Hartley needs to swallow his pride and start Joni regardless of his reasoning. There was no reason not to start him tonight... In fact there were plenty of reasons to start Ortio.
We know that Jonas is not back next year. Give the ball to the player who's future is still questionable. We made the playoffs large in part of Ortios winning stretch last year and then he came out and was given a less than ideal chance. Starting against the hottest team in the league after being the third goalie all year, replacing Hiller in a losing cause, etc are all "fill in" games. Give him a legitimate stretch.

Poor defensive plays, bad goaltending, Honda center, and that was our result.
Just waiting for some trades.

Backlund is going to be full marks for the length of his contract. He's a good player.
Giordano and Brodie with off nights by their standards.
Other than that... just another night at the pond.

Rebuilds are painful.
...patience, and not vilifying your own players is key.

May I add Kevin Bieksa, Corey Perry, Patrick Maroon, and David Perron to that list?

Problem is we've got way more problems then just goal tending.

It's been such a bad year I'm expecting disappointment there as well. Already can't get rid of Wideman. Watch Hudler etc go down with injury and the season just be a flop. With the Oilers getting first pick to top it off.

The Flames should just forfeit games in Anaheim for more team building at Splash Mountain.

ah.. just keep playing him... might as well tank it up with Hiller letting in 4-6 goals every game.
