Default December 13, just three games.

It is a small OOT, but, the main game has a rivalry feel and the Patrick Kane watch continues.

The Islanders have a 2-0 lead late in the first period. The first goal was scored in Zidlickian fashion and Tavares has the second goal. Greiss and Schneider are the goalies.

As long as Vancouver has the Sisters and that weasel, Burrows, it is a rivalry! I hope they get Chelsea Daggered over and over...

Zidlicky scores his second goal of the game and it is now 4-0 Islanders after two periods.

After one period, the Avalanche have a 2-0 lead. Skille and Mitchell are the goal scorers and as Machiavelli mentioned Tanguay, he gets the assist on Mitchell's goal.

Hawks 1-0 up, Kane gets another assist to make it 26 on the points streak.

Kane's streak is amazing in this era. In Wayne's big streak his team averaged close to 6 goals per game.

The SN announcers on that Chi goal suggested right away that if Panerin's shot before his dish to Keith had NOT hit the post, Kane would have had an assist. But Kane DID get the second assist. So I guess that means the SN guy was wrong, and that a shot off the post by the same guy who then collects his rebound and makes the primary assist does not negate the helper from the guy who passed him the puck? This is convoluted but can anyone confirm that?

@green...I had to rewind the DVR to see why Kane got an assist, but, Kane touch/dropped the puck to Keith, who went to Panarin, who got his own rebound off the post, then, back to Keith, for the goal...so, yes, continuous 'Hawk possession, and a point for Kane.

Dave Thomlinson, the colour commentator on the Canucks radio broadcast was also discussing the Kane assist. It carried over into the intermission with Blake Price and Scott Rintoul. I heard the WGN commentators explaining the reasons why Kane was credited with an assist.

Rewatched the goal just now, Kane absolutely gets an assist on that.

I wonder if anyone has ever gone back to Sergei Makarov's games for the red army and seen how long his point streak would be if assists were awarded according to NHL rules.

If memory serves me correct, when he played behind the iron curtain assists were only given if your pass directly led to a goal.

Despite some sloppy play to give the Canucks some PPs and some bad icings, the 'Hawks carried play, as the 2nd wore on...

A very free flowing game between two non-physical, possession based teams...I'd say that the difference has been the quality of the 'Hawks D in getting the puck, possessing it, and moving it out...The Canucks seem to be not doing as well on board battles.

Great save by Miller on Panarin's one-timer, and the Canucks are still hanging around.

Canuck PP goal get waved off...Sedin punched a puck to Sedin (I just don't care which Sedin is which)...Ref calls the hand pass.
