Tell me about Jakub Nakladal
I keep seeing people having him make the team over Ryan Wilson. To me they seem like the same type of player, except Wilson has NHL experience.
How can people pick Nakladal after only seeing him in a few practices and about 2 games worth of NHL pre season action? What am I missing on this guy?

I like to call him Jake.
He is unaware of this preference.

-shoots right
-actually played in the last three years
-better skater than Wilson

I think nakladal will be a pleasant surprise for those who haven't seen him play in preseason, rookie camp or practice. He looks very determined. He skates well and for the most part is mistake free. I'd say it's a tie between him and Wilson so far. Both have been better than the kids. I think kulak has been great but I don't want him as a 7th dman or playing with engelland. I'd prefer him getting am early start on a solid ahl season.
Let's pay the older Wilson and nakladal to play with engelland and sit in the box when Brodie returns.

I think a Wilson/Nakladal pairing might actually be ok together (3rd pairing, of course). I haven't really watched Engelland this year, so I am not convinced he is our #5.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

My sister-in-law caddied for him at the Flames golf tournament. She said he was tall and good looking. Hope that helps.

People pick Nakladal ahead of Wilson because the Flames have made more of a commitment to Nakladal than Wilson to date. With Nakladal limited in camp so far due to an injury, and Wilson only playing a handful of minutes, there's not much else to go on. But lacking new information, it seems evident that Nakladal is ahead of Wilson on the depth chart for now, solely on the basis of contract commitment.

Nakladal has a very hard slap shot that's roughly in the same territory of hardness as Wideman's, but it isn't as accurate. He does some times shoot it right into the defender trying to block it, which doesn't help. Wideman is very good at missing those guys.
Speed wise, he's a touch better than Wideman and Engelland but not as quick as any of the top end guys.
He is also very good at stripping opposing forwards from the puck as they come down on the rush. Every time I have watched him that was the case.
I'm hoping his injury isn't too bad because he would be an interesting #6.
