Ducks add some firepower

We had unloaded a bunch of cap towards the end of last season and then at the beginning of the summer and decided to make use of the space and good prices to add an impact player to our roster. Here is how the deal breaks down.

To the ducks:
Alexander Ovechkin

To the yotes:
Tomas Tatar
29th overall pick
Patrick Seiloff
2nd 2016

We don't get any cap in the deal, so this really obliterates our space. However we get arguably the best pure goalscorer in the entire league and he is still just 29. Tatar has a bright future but was due for a good raise so we decided to add some assets and bring in AO. Will be interesting to see how he does alongside Toews.

Good deal all-around. Coyotes stay competitive and hopefully Ovie blows up Ducks chemistry. I do like it more for Ducks though.

Coyotes unfortunately had to cut some serious cap this off season, just to many big salaries compared to the cap.

Team is now in much better shape.

Ducks clearly obtained the best player.... Tatar is a young player who had a great season.... Coyotes management believe he is a first line player with a bright future.
