Wasn't a big fan (easy to say in hindsight) of the early goalie pull. It's a two goal game and the teams got the momentum, good chance they bring it to within one before the two minute mark.

Engelland the goat? He got involved just like almost everyone on the ice. Pretty sure he had no idea he would get 3 game misconducts.

His gong show defending on the first Canucks goal earned him some horns.

That being said I really hope he isn't suspended. I generally like Engelland.

Not going to agree with the goat for Engelland tonight. If anything, the goat should be the damned ice. It's not like players falling was a one off tonight. Every damned one of them did tonight at some point and Engellands just happened to be at the wrong time.
How you hang the brawl on him too is a big time head scratcher.

What's Engelland supposed to do?? Not fight back against the two guys who jump him. Even Hughson called Hamhuis for being the third man in. I feel sorry for Engs the most right now, he took a gross sucker punch in the '2nd' dorsett fight and in the 1st one he had to somehow legally according to the refs take on 2 guys at once. The goats are the officials for allowing this and the series supervisor for signing off on this. Joke.

Top line is playing passive and scared. They should be the goat IMO.

I think in part it's simply the Canucks doing a great job forechecking and the top line is often hemmed in or has no speed when they get the puck. So credit to them too.

A team playing with a 7 as a 4 can't have said 7/4 instigating, punching guys when they're down, ignoring officials when told to stop, and reengaging again ... thats why I called him the goat.

If he didn't do any of those things (which I was pretty clear I had no idea) then clearly he isn't the goat.

But no Engellend for Sunday leaves the Flames in a tough spot if that's the NHL decision.

All of Johnny's worst games were where he was physically pushed around after dishing the puck, and it's proving the same here. Hopefully home ice cures that ailment

^^bingo's stuff

all true I think.

My perspective is if Ferland and engelland are the story line the wheels have already come off long ago.

Gaudreau seems out of ideas and is just trying to draw penalties. Monahan is playing about 6 inches and 60lbs smaller than he is, and I don't know wtf hudler is doing.

The kids are getting their first taste of playoff intensity so they will learn.

So far Sedins/Burrows 1 goal 3 assists 19 SOG +3 >>>> Hudler-Monahan-Gaudreau 1 assist, 7 SOG -10 -7 if empty net goal not counted.

The Flames have the series tied 1 game to 1 coming home.

Would be hard to believe that the Flames top line can be as ho-hum as they have been for the rest of the series.

Unless they're hurt, which seems likely.

That's why he needs a big bruising winger opposite him. Someone who also has enough skill to complement him and Mony. Chris Stewart really would have made sense here and for a 2017 2nd rounder, maybe the Flames should have made that deal.

Johnny has been dangerous, he roofs that chance in front of the net, and he has 2 points in 2 games. He hasn't had as many chances as in the regular season, but he's been dancing and has been creating. Mony and Hudler have not done much, they need to be better.

Ok, but he's giving the puck away a lot because of the hits coming. Still a useful player, but less effective for sure

I think these first two games in the Playoffs for the Flames just shows how important Bouma is or how he is missed. Ferland has shown similarities, but with both of them playing, I think the Sedins, Burrows, and Bieska would be scared. Bouma could be placed randomly in the first 3 lines as necessary if he was healthy.

Is Bennett okay? Limited minutes in the third and looked to be in pain

Bingo, I don't know how you can blame Engelland re-engaging again. He clearly did not want to fight anymore. He just spent a couple of minutes fighting TWO guys, he was spent. Dorsett went over and initiated and got a sucker punch in. Engelland was so gassed he just held onto him. He threw one punch at the end and that was probably cause he'd finally caught a breath.

I understand the initial fight and he, Ferland, Bollig and Stajan were the aggressors, but there's no way Engelland was the aggressor in the second fight.

I'm actually fine with a suspension for Engelland. I want the team to feel slighted. I want them to come together and send a big F YOU to the league, to the officials, and most importantly to the Canucks.

If Engelland is suspended, someone will step up. It's the playoffs, it's the time for the unexpected. Watch Wotherspoon come in and play great.

He gives the puck away all the time even in the regular season. He handles it a lot. I really think he's been fine. The other two have not helped. If Hudler is hurt, he shouldn't be playing, because he's been very ineffective. Throughout the year, I've thought that Johnny needs Hudler to be effective, but in this series, Johnny has been creating despite Hudler. I think it's time to try Johnny with others, I think he has developed enough to be the catalyst himself.

I want to see Ferland up on that line with them. I know he's a LW too, but he's been a serious physical presence and has been the Flames best forward. He gets into the slot or follows Johnny around, he'll get a prime scoring chance.
