Sven Baertschi Did Not Request Trade From Flames?
I found this article today with Baertschi's comments after the trade:
Sven denied asking for a trade when the Calgary media found out about his demand.
"Between me and my agent, the goal was to find a solution, ‘How do I get to play in the NHL?’ We were just trying to find a solution and for me, personally, in Calgary at some point it just didn’t seem to work anymore. But it wasn’t like we called and were like, ‘OK. We want to get out of here,’ "Baertschi told the Calgary media after finding out he’d been traded away from the team that drafted him.
Full article here: http://www.nucksmisconduct.com/2015/...i-be-a-bargain
For those interested, Sven has a point in every game thus far for Utica, 1 goal, 3 assists in 3 games.

Didn't ask for a trade. Just said he wouldn't re-sign as an RFA (opting for Europe I guess). Unless you are accusing Treliving of a bald-faced lie.
Not too interested in his points, thanks.

"We were just trying to find a solution and for me, personally, in Calgary at some point it just didn’t seem to work anymore. "
So he made it clear he didn't want to be here. Isn't that what Treliving said his agent said?
That's just a polite way of asking for a trade

Here's a tip Sven, play better. Reminds me a lot of Robbie Schremp, Junior hockey superstar that doesn't skate or compete well enough for the next level.

I thought it was more so his agent told the team they didn't want to re-sign this summer
Which is effectively the same thing. Whether he ever said the words I want a trade he clearly made it known he wanted to leave

He never "requested a trade".
As per our GM though, his agent expressed that Sven had no intention of re-signing here in the summer.
So, sure....whatever Sven. Good luck to ya.

Sven, you don't get to play...... It's pretty simple, do what the coaches ask of you. Dominate the scoresheet and you'll get a chance.

He's already fitting in perfectly in the Canuck organization. Whining and making excuses instead of owning it. I really can't wait to boo him off the ice. I will take our GM's word over some kid who couldn't make our team.

The funny thing is Treliving specifically mentioned that both happened... FIrst the trade request a few months into the season, then more recently the "I will not re-sign" threat.
It was never actually Sven telling him this, though. He was careful to mention that it was the agent calling and making these demands. The guy did the same thing with Nino Niederreiter.

It is definitely asking for a trade. Doesn't really matter though. I think Sven was grateful to the flames and Treliving in particular, for making the move, so I don't hold a grudge against him for those comments. I hold a grudge against him because he now wears a putrid Nucks jersey.

Between me and my agent, the goal was to find a solution, ‘How do I get to play in the NHL?’
"Excuse me, how do I get to Carnegie Hall?" "Practice, practice, practice".
A rookie thinking he needs his agent to "find a solution" to play in the NHL is doing it wrong. Sven was told what he needed to do.

I think I'll believe Brad Treliving.
Like others said, Sven asked for a trade first and foremost, then later he went with, "I won't resign." The latter is just implying a trade.

He asked for a 'solution' to play in the NHL with the Flames. I'm sure his agent proposed switching to defense to become our 7th, or strapping on the pads and stealing the #2 prior to the deadline forcing us to trade Hiller or Ramo.

There's nothing inherently wrong or faulty about a guy who does this. It's a business, and it goes both ways. If the org you're in is too deep at the spot you play, and there's other teams out there with less depth, of course you try to force that decision. It's a difference between 5 figure salary and 7 figure

I agree with this, he was told many times and IMO didn't do it for whatever reason (read the other Sven threads, no need for details here).
And this doesn't seem like news to me, I believe this was the same kind of story we heard before but reading between the lines, it was asking for a trade in a polite way by a player and his agent.
Like someone else said, you don't get to play in the NHL you freaking earn it, at least when playing for the Flames.

I don't get this thread...especially it's title. Are you asking if Sven asked for a trade or are you just saying "Sven Baertschi Did Not Request a Trade" with an upward inflection like Ron Burgandy does when you put a question mark at the end of a sentence.
Either way, he did ask for a trade.
