And all Oilers fans cry out in agony!
Its okay, they'll just have to re-double their efforts to acquire Weber.

Not bad salary wise but that is too much term. 5 years max is what I would have went.

He'll be 39(?) when that deal expires, too long. AAV is about what I expected though.

Good deal for them. He would have got that on the open market, I am sure of it.

Wow, I like Boychuk but that's a lot of money. Brodie probably wants to re-negotiate.

What does this so for Gio's contract. I'm thinking Gio gets closer to max regardless of this one, but certainly would drive it up if not

Those are high dollars but in 7 years of increasing cap that might be fine.
Snow is locking up his assets this time.

I think Gio is going to get 7.5-8.0 anyhow. Not sure anything is effecting that.

Boychuk wasn't going to hit FA. Too good of a fit and too much success with the Isles to gamble on a better role elsewhere.
Good dollars, term is two years too much IMO but otherwise, excellent signing for both parties.

Cap isn't guaranteed to increase though. It actually sounds like it's gonna go down next year.

It will increase between now and 7 years and I sincerely doubt we'll ever see the cap go down, it may increase slightly or stay the same but I'd be very surprised to see any actual reductions.

I've thought for a long time that a 4 year/$36 deal is perfect for both sides. Gio gets paid, the term is short enough to maintain cap flexibility.

I must be the only one that thinks Gio's going to take less money for more term. I'm predicting 6.5 a year, full term.

Huge for the Islanders, as they put a lot of hope into being able to re-sign him when they made the trade.

Wouldn't you rather pay him more per year and save on term?

I'm not making the decisions. I'm making a guess as to what is going to happen.
