Default 3 Muslim Students Killed at UNC

Appears to be a bunch of criticism directed towards Obama and the mainstream media's lack of response/coverage of this. I'd wager that if this was a Muslim man who'd shot three white/Christian students, we'd be calling this a terrorist attack.

This isn't terrorism, but neither are most of the other crimes that are labelled that committed by Muslims. It's tragic and disgusting though.

No we wouldn't be calling it a terrorist attack because neighbours getting into a fight which led to a shooting does not meet that threshold. This was not a man on a mission to kill random people and grab headlines for a cause.

If anything this is a call for gun control so when idiots go full idiot they can't kill 3 people.

I agree. I think this falls into the realm of a hate crime as opposed to an act of terror, but I still think my original point stands.

On the surface it looks like it can be labelled a hate crime, but I would wait until more details come out.

I do agree with you, however, that this would be called terrorism if a Muslim murdered 3 white people.

How do you know it was motivated by hate other then media conjecture though?

Other sources mention they had a long standing feud over parking and noise in the condo building and that the guy was a all around ####### to everyone and lacked compassion for anyone.

http://news.yahoo.com/man-arrested-3...080105974.html

Does the guy probably have a pretty severe personality disorder? yes

Did he kill them just because they were muslim? doesn't look like it.

This is a story that should be dying with the local media. 30,000 americans are going to be murder via gun this year, there wouldn't be enough time in the day to give national coverage to all of them.

I guess I just have a lower opinion of outlets like CNN and FOX. I think if the situation was reversed we would have seen 24 hours of "WAS THIS A TERRORIST ATTACK ON AMERICAN SOIL?!!!" nonsense.

Fair point.

in the end it doesn't matter though, he's going away for life and I'm of the opinion the less media exposure we give these idiots the better.

I read an opinion piece a little while ago where the author suggested we quit reporting on the names of perpetrators of these types of crime. They're not worth remembering, it's the victims who are.

Pretty sure North Carolina still has the death penalty, so it'd be weird if he wasn't up for that.

Unfortunately, Campus shootings of only 3 people isn't enough to make national headlines any more.

RIP to the three students. Really is a damn shame when you're living your own life, only to have it intersect with some coward intent on some murderous rampage. From all accounts these were great people doing big things.

I saw on TV last night where the guy that shot them, used to go to their apartment to harass them, and would brush aside his jacket to show he had his gun in his waist band.
Damn guns are cool!
God bless the NRA

It's crazy how small the world is with social media these days. I remember having a lot of mutual connections on LinkedIn with a Canadian Jihadist that joined ISIS.

Because you can be sure that "Muslim" shooter would be in the title if the roles were reveresed.

Aside from what Polak said, it is also relevant for people to begin to realize the theme of acceptable discrimination that is being directed towards muslims in the US.

To be fair it is the lead story on CNN.com right now. Considering Yemen's government was overthrown and Russia may have agreed to a peace deal over Ukraine, that's a lot of coverage.

Because a hate crime is different than a parking spot dispute.
