Default Creating a VPN Tunnel on a 2nd Router. Help?

Hello CP Brain Trust.

I just updated my shaw package and had to get a new modem to go with it (Arris SBG6782). This is replacing my Asus RT-N66U (which I have been having issues with). What I was hoping to do is use my Asus to run OpenVPN and use a separate wifi to use for Netflix and whatnot.

Here is how my setup currently is:

I have The Shaw modem (4 port)

Port 1 - Into my NAS
Port 2 - Into a Powerline Adapter that goes to my Xbox/Ouya
Port 3 - Into another Powerline that goes to my Asus router (which has my desktop plugged into it)

It should be noted that the powerlines have no issues. They both work awesome. Prior to new router, 2nd Powerline went right into my PC with no issues.

I tried putting the Asus IP into the DMZ on the Shaw side, but OpenVPN on the Asus says I need a proper WAN IP (not the internal home network).

Am I over thinking this? Anyone have any suggestions?

Main Goal: 2 sets of Wifi. One Canadian. One American. NAS\PC doesnt need to connect to American side. American is only for WIFI VPN.

Put a switch in before the routers. You get 2 IPs from Shaw that you can use.

Thanks Rathji, this is what I thought as well, but you apparently only get 2 IPs from Shaw if you are on a business plan now.

EDIT\UPDATE: So I called shaw and they do offer a 2nd IP, you just have to get it activated. This may actually work after all. Thanks for the tip on the 2nd IP Rathji.

So I thought I would bump this as I figured it out and got it working - and it may help some people if they wanted to use a VPN network without much hassle.

I got Shaw to enable the 2nd IP on my router. Easy enough. I then had to add the MAC address of the Asus router to the Shaw box (Advanced - Options). Rebooted everything. This gave the Asus Router its own WAN IP. I then installed OpenVPN (using a tomato firmware) - using instructions from my VPN provider.

It was enabled, but I lost all internet connectivity - but able to access the router - so something was being blocked. I clued in that the Shaw box was probably blocking those out going ports for VPN, so I port forwarded the IP of my ASUS router to allow it through. Everything connected fine after that.

So now I have 2 wireless networks - One for Canada - One for USA. It was a little tedious to configure @ first, but once it's dialed in it is pretty awesome.
