Shocking Discovery - Women Do One-Night Stands Just for Sex!
As the title of the thread says... The new study conducted by the University of Ottawa found that women do one-night stands just for sex. One of the most common reasons given was "I was horny".
Just wanna get this straight: so, someone at the University professorship level had asked for funding of this study and got an approval of this funding from someone above holding the budgetary purse strings. And nobody said "you've got to be kidding me!", or "are you for real?", or "perhaps, it's time for you to move on with your academic career somewhere else". I understand this is not our Province that funded this, yet, there are similarly outrageous and useless studies conducted by universities in Canada (I recall one by UBC on the merits of cinematographic pornography or something to that effect; feel free to post other examples of such).
How does this happen? How come nobody calls it for what it really is - a pure waste of public money?

I recall one such study (I don't remember where it was conducted), that concluded that traffic congestion is caused by the increased number of vehicles on the road.
That conclusion, as well as the one you posted above seem rather obvious and pointless (from a funding perspective).

I wonder what reasons heterosexual guys have sex for?
Perfect reason to apply for research funding at UofO, I suppose.

Confusing - the numbers should increase with age to some extent
ie: have you had an abortion? If 23% of women between 20-29 have had one, surely you would expect the number to be at least 23% for women 30-39 and slightly higher for 40-49
