Default Notes from Dec 10 Practice - Colborne game time decision. Ramo starts in Buffalo

Glencross-Monahan-Byron
Gaudreau-Jooris-Colborne
Raymond-Granlund-Jones
Bollig-Stajan-Bouma

Giordano-Brodie
Russell-Wideman
Smid-Engelland

#Flames RW Joe Colborne is wearing white today. Means he's cleared for contact, could be an option tomorrow in Buffalo.

Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
#Flames C/W Joe Colborne (wrist), who will be a game-time decision tomorrow: "We're getting close. Real close. I'm excited to get back."
  • For the Flames to use Colborne on Thursday they would need to free up a roster spot. Ferland is the most likely to be sent down unless an injury, trade. or waivers happen

Quote:
Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
#Flames RW Jiri Hudler is not on ice for practice in Buffalo.
  • No reason why yet could be just maintenance. edit: Hartley confirms Hudler had the day off for maintenance
  • Colborne took Hudler's spot in the practices. Could be just a place holder

Karri Ramo plays for #Flames vs #Sabres
  • Hiller is confirmed against the Penguins

Foligno-Hodgson-Stafford

No Ennis

Sabres defence

Gorges Myers
Ristolaien Zadorov
Benoit Weber

Enroth.
  • Stewart appears to be returning to Sabres line up after being healthy scratched. Ted Nolan's reasoning behind the scratch was because he thought Stewart was playing too soft. Sabres are hoping an angry Stewart comes out against the Flames
  • Sabres have also confirmed that Enroth will get the start against the Flames

more updates as they occur

Ferland is getting better every game...would hate to see him sent down, I think it's just a matter of time for him to get a couple goals. Good big presence around the net...

I guess you could say Granlund should be sent down if they plan on using Colborne as a center again.

But I think what most people are hoping will happen is the Flames waive Bollig to make room.

Probably a coin toss between Granlund and Ferland for now.

Was just going to say this. Granlund seems to get pushed off the puck a bit too easily. I think spending more time in the AHL would be good for him (although he did have that beauty goal to end his pointless streak).

Ferland is looking just fine in his role and seems to be getting more comfortable each game. His play without the puck is top notch and it's only a matter of time before the offense starts clicking.

If we base it off the last game (of course we don't) then Byron should be demoted. If we look at it as a whole and the players worth to the team at this moment, Ferland stays and Granlund goes.

Granlund looked great last night and actually finished a chance off

Glencross - Monahan - Jones
Gaudreau - Jooris - Hudler
Raymond - Bouma - Colborne
Ferland - Stajan - Byron

Roll with this until Backlund is ready. By then Jones will be out, Jooris switch to RW and Backlund take over 2nd line centre duties.

Or just make a damn trade already!

Colborne is in Hudler's spot and Ferland is being used as an extra forward, so I think Ferland is the odd man out

Yeah, not sure who would not see that Granlund was very good last night. No chance he gets sent down IMO.

I'd love to see Treliving do something ballsy like waive Bollig.

Not certain of course, but I think he'd get picked up, so I'd rather see Treliving try to trade him to return an asset first.

If "Earned not Given" is true, then Bollig.

However, it probably will be one of the two kids, as it is likely to be temporary until they can make additional room to bring them back up. Both Ferland and Granlund have played decently enough to earn a spot - but I can't see Treliving waiving Bollig at this point just to keep one of the kids here.

This is a GOOD problem to have!

I think the player who has sat out the most should be the one who is waived or traded.

Considering we gave up a 3rd for Bollig, I dont see Treliving admitting to that mistake that soon.

Too bad a lot of the kids are starting to be squeezed out though. Both Ferland and Granlund deserve to be in the lineup.

I am glad Hartley is shuffling the lines a bit.

Id like to see Ferland stay. Waive Bollig or send Granlund down.
