Just curious what this means? Is it free for a year for ever? Never used Spotify so have no idea. Been exploring more music streaming services and Spotify is next on my list.

They're just coming into Canada. I used a code today and I'm not sure what it got me, other than the ability to use it? I like it so far.

They have some kind of beta version going so they're sending out limited invites to see how it goes for people in Canada. Gives you access to the free version. The web player lets you play songs on demand as much as you want. They have some ads mixed in.
The premium version would give you the same features on mobile with no ads at all. So far I love the web version. The discover music feature is great. Found a bunch of artists I like in the last 24 hours I've used it. The new releases feature is also great.
The Android app is a bit crappy. Constantly says I'm offline.

I got one too. Early access is kind of cool.
So far it feels like cheating on Rdio, but I do like their discovery tools and larger back catalogue.

The Android app simply does not work for me. I had to install Onavo to get it to work. For some reason won't connect through WiFi or over 3G with VPN.
But their web player is amazing.

So odd to see Iceland get this before Canada, but its a big hit in Iceland and I'm hooked. Just having the paid subscription to have your playlists available offline on up to 3 devices is so great.
You can follow me if you like.

I like the fact that you can pretty much do anything with the web player for free. Sure they sprinkle in some ads every 10 songs, but other than that its great. The mobile version is restricted to just shuffle playing, but paying for it is worth it. If the Android app worked better that is.

Pandora can't play any song, album, artist on demand. Spotify has the same number of tracks, but lets you listen to everything on demand with the web player, and if you buy premium you can do the same with the mobile version.
Offline sync, sync with iPod, playlists are easy to make.
Its like Grooveshark on steroids with better organization, instant new releases, and better interface.

Discovery on Spotify in the first couple hours is much, much better than Rdio, IMO.

Yup. Discovery has resulted in many new artists for me to listen too in the last week I've used it.

I had completely forgotten that I had signed up for Spotify over a year or so ago. Checking it out again.
I like Pandora for the randomness of the station and that you can add your own mix or various artists to the station. Google music is good but unless you make your mixes you cannot just get a genre mixed station (at least that I have found). I'll run Spotify for awhile and see how it goes.

I have an invite if anyone wants it - OP, my account is a 'free' one, is yours the same? eg: not a trial of premium, etc?
