Icon20 Krejci re-signs for 6 years, 7.17 AAV

Czech report seems to be the source so far.

@HackswithHaggs
According to a Czech news outlet, David Krejci has agreed to a 6-year, $43 million contract extension with the Bruins http://www.csnne.com/boston-bruins/r...lion-extension

The Google translated version of that page is awesome. The rubbed hands on this deal.

takes him to 34 years old. As long as concussion issues dont come up, could be a good deal.

I know he's worth it but these dollar amounts are mind numbing.

These deals always seem expensive...but with a rising cap this is going to be the cost to keep good players. Really good two way center that you won't be able to replace if you let him go.

It's not shocking - centres are more and more being identified as the hardest to acquire position on the ice. Good centres are hard to draft, harder to develop, and near impossible to trade for.

Things are only going to get "crazier" from here.

Seems a bit much. They will probably regret it towards the end of the contract.

Asides from his playoff performance last year, Krejci has been one of the best Bruins to produce when it counts.

He's a 60-70 point guy in the regular season, but turns into a monster most playoff years.

He would get that money in free agency easy so it's a good deal for them even if I don't believe he's a $7 million player.

Playoff Krejci is ridiculous most years. I have to assume he was injured this year. He just didn't look like himself, it seemed like he couldn't even win a faceoff.

I agree - something seemed off. He wasn't the same player, and was over thinking and not producing.

Good deal for a number one playmaking center in his prime

I consider him more of a #2 than a #1 C.

I don't mind $7m, but not for 6 years.

Conversely, I wouldn't mind 6 years if it was at a discount, like $5.5 or $6m.

But I think the Bruins are going to rue this deal in a few years.

Yeah I have to second this post. The $7MM per annum seems fair, however that term looks a touch long. I'm not sure I would have gone longer than 4 years. I do think if he was a UFA, particularly in a summer where there aren't many centers, he probably could have garnered more.

I think Krejci is a pretty excellent, underrated and effective centerman. Especially as a second line player... think about what Boston would be like without him. They'd end up being mediocre to good vs. an East favourite like they are now I think.

11th in centre scoring last year
Plays a good 2 way game
Makes those around him better (look at Iginla's year)
Good on faceoffs
6 of his 19 goals this year were game winners
Monster in the playoff

How is that not a #1 centre?

If they win a couple of cups during his tenure it will all be forgiven.
