Sadly I won't be home for hours, but I go right past there. I'll keep an eye out on my way home though

The dog sitter lost the dog....that's fantastic.
And the owner is on vacation in Maui, even more fantastic. Great way to have a trip ruined.
I'm driving by that area shortly, will be on the lookout.

He looks like a runner. Good luck.

Thanks guys!
We have some help, but we need a sighting to try and narrow down where he is. The owner will be on the next plane home. Hopefully we'll have him before they land. Again: any sightings contact Wes 403-605-6220.
I sent a tweet out if you can retweet and get more eyes out... I'm @SpeedyMcAwesome

There was a posting of a sighting Haysboro Cres and 14th ST SW of a dog matching Steve. It's a long shot as he would have had to cross the res. But lots of people drive by there?

Hopefully they find the dog! I'm take a look on my way home. That's my worst fear. I don't even entertain a friend looking after the dog anymore, straight to Springbank Pet Resort she goes. Makes me way less anxious when we go away.

I took an extra slow drive through the area and doubled back, didn't see anything . Any luck? I hate stories like this, especially in this weather. Poor Steve, hopefully he gets found soon!

Silly question, but was the owner already planning on returning today or is she coming back in response to this?
Also, if the search area is around MRU, haysboro and 14th seems a little unlikely? Anyway, drove home slowly down richardson way/46th and and no luck

I see he is posted on YYC Pet Recovery, which is the best option, IMO. Hopefully he is found safely soon. That would be a nightmare - to be away and learn your dog has disappeared. Was this dog sitter a friend or a "professional"?

It's been confirmed that Steve IS in Haysboro. He's wearing 2 collars. But people are trying to chase him to catch him. YOU CAN'T DO THAT! Crouch down and call his name. You have to get him to come to you.

I don't know. I thought it might be insensitive to ask... If it was me, I would fly home too.

Maybe find someone at home with a fenced yard who is willing to open their gate and leave some really good smelling food out there to entice him in. Some rescues often have humane traps you can borrow, if you have a scared dog that won't come to would-be rescuers.

That's a dog park right there. I live in the other side of haysboro so I'll go take a drive when I get home.

Thanks for the update, yeah I clicked the YYC link and was reading her tweets too. If he made it to Haysboro, is he ever a runner! Yeah best not to chase him.
Best of luck! If the sightings and area are being nailed down, I like the odds of him being found tonight. But the unknown sucks until then for sure, I know that pain. Once he's hopefully found tonight, I'm sure he's got lots of treats and loves in his very near future

I know someone who lost their dog a few years ago in a cold snap like this (and got him back). Dogs are very resourceful and can find warmth. The only advice I have is if you find Steve, be cautious when you approach him as this persons dog nipped at the rescuer even though he was incredibly mild tempered. I'm hoping you hear good news Puxlut.

No sighting since 6. I've put some posters out, but ran out of tape. Driving around still.

This type of stuff just makes me anxious, can't sleep knowing someone's dog is loose in this cold weather. Really hope to hear good news...
