2014-2015 NBA season thread
Going to be quite a bit to follow this year:
-The new "super team" in Cleveland
-The Heat without Lebron
-The return of D-Rose and Kobe
-The Spurs going for the repeat
And of course if other teams/players step it up. Looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds.

The Atlanta Hawks incident.
Looks like there'll be a second franchise sale in a year for the league.

Sixers with their biggest win of the decade: No NBA draft lottery changes coming.

The NBA draft lottery reform has been voted down at Board of Governors meeting, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. System stays.

I give the Sixers at least a 50% chance to break their own NBA record for fewest wins at 9.

How long until D Rose is out for the year again? I say 30 games or less.

Curious about the Raptors, Cleveland (Lebron and the gang), Miami (without Lebron), Minnesota (Canadian guys traded by Cavs) and Indiana (without George) this season. I am not necessarily cheering for all those teams though. Also curious about Chicago with Derrick Rose back for how long?

So there are reports now that Nash is out for the season with nerve damage. I'd hate to see his career end like this. Hopefully he comes back for a year the year after and kills it, then retires. In his prime a few years back, he was definitely worthy of MVP.

Yet another testament to the brilliance of the Phoenix Suns training staff. They managed to keep him upright more or less his entire time there. He goes to LA and won't even play 30% of his contract.
He said he was probably retiring after this year and this probably makes the decision even easier. Best case scenario he plays one more year as a backup on a contender like San Antonio or OKC but even then I'm not sure anyone will take a flier with his back being what it is. This appears to be the end sadly.

A shame we never got to see him win a ring.

I might swap Minny and SA, but otherwise, exactly right.

I'm really interested in the Raptors' treatment of JV this year.
They can't platoon a guy of his talent for 20-25 minutes of floor time and never run a play for him. I don't think Casey knows how to coach bigs though I am prepared to be convinced otherwise.

Anthony Davis opening night line: 26 points, 17 rebounds, 9 blocks, 3 steals, 2 assists. What a monster he is and will be for years to come. I think he takes over from LeBron as the best player sooner than later.

San Antonio/Dallas game was very competitive. Mavs looking improved. Watched a bit of Houston/Lakers as well and Lakers looked useless.

^^I like Davis more because he's an impact player on both ends. Durant is the ultimate offensive force though without a doubt, but Davis is probably already the best defensive player in the league and he shoots 50% on offense. And he's only 21. In 2 years he's gonna be an absolute force to be reckoned with.
And the Lakers are tanking this year, no doubt about it. Need to get into the top 5 of the lottery or Phoenix gets their pick (the utterly horrible Steve Nash trade bites again). That Kobe contract is also destined to be one of the worst ever. Highest paid player in the league, because of what he did 5 years ago. Well done Lakers.

Actually that contract isn't that bad if they are going to tank.
Gives them an excuse for not adding free agents or trying to improve since they have no cap space.

I watched the 2nd half of Cleveland vs Portland game tonight. Man, Lebron James looks bored and doesn't look like he's putting as much effort in this game. Kevin Love, on the other hand is overrated. I thought he is supposed to be a defensive and offensive gem but he's neither. Is it just this game? This is the first time I've seen Cleveland played this season so maybe I just happen to watch the wrong game.

Love has always been a bad defender not sure where you heard he was a defensive gem.
He is a great offensive player and rebounder but is weak on the defensive end and can't protect the rim at all.
