Caps got a goalie for next year! Might still be looking to get another if opportunity arises, but if not we're happy to have acquired the services of Elliot. Adam and Da Costa so far haven't established themselves in the league, and although we still think that they might one day our priority was to get a keeper. A fifth for Cole Cassels also seemed like fair value.

Having Bryz and Andersen/Raanta makes Elliot redundant so I cashed him in for a pair of forwards that are top AHL performers.

Olofsson is a decent D-man so there's that.

It's likely going to be the same setup, just replace Halak with Allen.

Sure, but Elliot might take it and run. Allen might flop, lots of factors.

true, but I also have Andersen who is in the same situation, and won't cost 4-5 million to resign.

Did not want ~10 million tied up in meh goaltending.
