Conroy on Fan960 with Warrener
http://pmd.fan960.com/audio_on_deman...-Interview.mp3
Still listening, but this is an entertaining listen for your work day.
Funny little quips here and there
- Warrener plugging that he will bug Regehr about his play, but afraid he'll knock him out next time he see him (joke intended of course)
- Buttering Conroy up with standard Heat talk, then ribbing him about Cammy signing and seeing if Conroy slips.

Yeah, good stuff from Connie.
Made note that we could very well be worse next season because we'd (potentially) be without Cammy, and the good bounces this year may not go that way next year. Also noted that he doesn't think Calgary will be a destination for UFAs this summer (unsurprisingly).
Seemed to caution against "raised expectations" for next season, as this was only year 1 of the rebuild. Good to hear some honesty from upper management!

now talk about the run 10 years ago... a bit of talk about who they'd rather see win, Iggy or Reggie. Warrener says Reggie because they're good friends, but then they both agree that whoever wins from that team including Leopold, they'd be super happy and proud.
How Fraser screwed them with bad penalties, Warrener cautioned Conroy to stay quiet. haha.

I love Conroy, but dude has the worst poker face in professional sports. This is why I can't see him ever being more than an Assistant GM

TSN did a feature on the 10 worst calls in the NHL playoffs, I think Fraser had like 4/10.
Given all the refs in all the games played, that is a pretty horrible stat.

thank god the days are gone where management gets fooled into diverting from the plan or chasing the unicorn.

On Jankowski, needs to fill out but has frame.
Warrener makes a funny plug to Conroy - You're small and strong. He's tall and ... not strong. lol.

plug about Kipper, and if either of them have seen him. Neither have seen him, and Conroy apparently has something for him that he really wants. Didn't go any further than that. Apparently is waiting for his kid to finish school, and is moving back to Finland.
more draft talk, and how happy they are to have 4th overall. Conroy seems pretty high on Draisatl.

Yep. It's good that he is tempering expectations a little. They already won the hearts of most of the fans this year. Despite the end results, it seems like most fans had fun watching them compete. They pulled off a nearly impossible task in that regard, but I also think it says a lot about the Flames fan base (i.e., to finish in the bottom 5 and still have the fans excited and behind everyone).
Having said that, I can sense a bit of the "instant gratification" generation expecting at least a linear growth after the first year, but that just isn't always realistic most of the time.

That was a good listen. Loved the part about how Conroy did not think the potential Gaudreau signing went well, and how Gaudreau actually came late to the meeting to sign and Conroy was getting worried. It also sounds like Kipper had a few too many at a Roughnecks game at it sounds like Conroy has some drugs or something sketchy for him.

I hated Fraser when he was a ref - awful! The 2004 run cemented his status as"worst ever" in my mind. Was it him that actually caused Flames fans to throw stuff on the ice? Pretty out of character for the dome crowd.
Whenever he was announced as a ref for any Flames games, you could hear the groans in the crowd. Never understood how that useless sack of #### got games in the finals that year. Pretty telling when he was switched out of one of the games here.

He said he had cash for him, from one of his teams.
I'm guessing that meant the team he owns in his hometown, Turku.

Rhett Warrener is so washed up. Not sure why anyone would be interested in listening to him.
