Very likely that he wont turn pro until the 2015/2016 season, but its always good to get prospects under contract.

Meh, he's only 4th on his WHL team in points and goals.... /// basement blogging D-bag who thinks Monahan should still be in junior
Nice to just get it done. Don't mind having those slide risk ELC's on the books at all. Mine as well get Poirier done too.

Pats are in Calgary to play the Hitmen, then start their Christmas break after the game. Nice to have some spending money for the holidays.

On the other hand, he may suddenly have a lot more second and third cousins coming out of the wood work with their hands out.
Good signing, good for a local guy, and know friends of his dad who runs a local pub, so good situation overall.
The Burke delivery front and center, no formal announcement, late in the day. No "rumors are that Klimchuk is close to signing" over the last couple days, that would be part of the package of media PR tricks of the prior regime.

Term is too long and about half a million overpaid.

I don't like long term deals either. He should've gotten a year long "show me" contract at most.

They should get Poirier done now too. I'm surprised he wasn't signed first to be completely honest.

problem is that as a 94 birthday, if he signs after December 31, his ELC won't slide next year, even if he doesn't play in the NHL. Gotta think that his agent would advise him to not sign until January 1.

OT but do we think all of Gaudreau, Gillies, and Arnold will have ELCs by the end of the season? Arnold is a senior I believe and the other 2 have nothing left to prove in college.

I would say yes to all three, plus Agostino. All depending on when their seasons end. They should all be in Abbotsford for the playoffs, at least.

Arnold, yes. Gillies and Gaudreau if they want it - they just need to say the word.
