1 dead, 2 injured in Mission shooting
Crazy week in Calgary with the hit and runs, double stabbing and now this.
Global, Calgary Sun, Vancouver Sun, CBC
Quote:
About 8:45 p.m. police and paramedics responded to a parking lot the 1900 block of 5A St. S.W., where they found a vehicle with bullet holes and three victims. Det. Alex Stokes said one man was declared dead at the scene while a woman and another man were taken away in ambulances. Several blocks surrounding the scene in Mission were shut down to allow investigators to work. Dog, tactical and air units were brought in to find a suspect, but to no avail. Staff Sgt. Gary McAuley said investigators were dealing with minimal information at that time.
|
Quote:
"She's unable to be spoken to at this time. The third person, the other male, is choosing to not co-operate with this investigation at this time," said Staff Sgt. Grant Miller with the homicide unit. Police identified the dead man as Trevor James Munro, a 22-year-old from Surrey, B.C. The shooting was not random, police say.

No idea... rumours spread crazy fast; I got a text that said "3 people got shot at Western Canada" with nothing more than that, but it's definitely not the school. More like the block south/southwest of the school. In an alley maybe.

Yeah, that's right around where Royal Ave ends, near 5th St. Lots of crazy sh*t happening in town this week, wonder what this one's about?

In Calgary, gang/drug related is the default answer for a triple shooting... we'll know soon enough.

Yeah Google Maps confirmed that for me after I made the thread, I don't know the area. CBC/Global are saying Mission or Beltline, and its neither... you'd think they'd know better.

EDIT: link posted already
I wouldn't jump to drug connections necessarily, it has been a crazy week for all kinds of stuff.

Yikes, I'll rephrase it to say I hope it's drug/gang related, because a person randomly shooting 3 people in a car and CPS have no idea where the guy is would be very very bad.

See anything? My brother is very close too and hasn't responded yet, hence my concern.

The full moon makes people crazy!
But in all seriousness that's a bit scary. So now there is the stabbing domestic violence guy and this unknown shooter both at large in the city. Not awesome.

Hmm, what type of business typically results in people being murdered by firearms...
....I give up.

Go ahead and make fun of me, but it has this eerie reminder of Boston, to me. Certainly not to the extent of what happened there by any stretch, but an event, and then the shootings not long after, with a highly wanted murderer running around. It was one of the first things that sprang to mind. I think the chances they're connected are probably unlikely, but it just reminded me of that.

There was that shooting over the weekend at Ten so this is probably finishing up or in retaliation from that.

People are getting restless anticipating the first snowfall. The only logical option is to take out your neighbours and/or engage them in a round of the "most dangerous game". Winner gets street bragging rights and ample parking room. No designated snow route is a plus.

Surprised I didn't hear the shots from across the field of Western. Had just gotten home around 8:30 last night

The SE is pretty bad, too. It's the SW that's typically awesome. And to be fair, this is really "downtown".
