Emery played last night, at least according to the NHL.com boxscores...

Do we know ANA's starting goalie yet? I still have this ridiculous outside prayer that Eric Staal and Corey Perry can combine to score 4 points and save my fantasy matchup this week but that becomes a significant longshot if Hiller's starting again.

Yes he did. I wonder if Mason will start in net against the Hurricanes.

That was a bad goal as there was no deflection. The Hurricanes have the edge on the Flyers.

Is it the goalies' fault in Philly? At some point, when they've been through this many, the narrative should change, no?

Well in this case they just happen to have two really bad goalies playing for them.

At some point though, it can't be just the goalies. Most of these guys have had success elsewhere:
Bryzgalov
Emery
Leighton
Biron
Mason

Nope. Mason has had his ups and downs, but he's not "really bad." Emery won the Cup last year as a backup who only had, what, one regulation loss?
I believe the problem starts with their coaching. Laviolette just isn't getting out of his team what they are capable of.
The defense is a bit of a mess, which partly falls on the GM, but there's enough veteran presence that they shouldn't look as disorganized as they do.
That group of forwards should be much, much better at even strength.
Edit: I should say that I think either Mason or Emery make a very capable backup, but they're not good enough for a 1A/B tandem. The Flyers need a reliable starting goalie.

I wouldn't put Mason as a good goalie. In reality he had a couple good months and a great month during his rookie season and has been decidedly average ever since. The Flyers choosing him was an odd choice given their history as goalie graveyard.

Case in point:
Bryzgalov in Anaheim's farm team...good
Bryzgalov in Anaheim...good
Bryzgalov in Phoenix...great
Bryzgalov in Philadelphia...terrible
Can you spot the difference?

Bobrovsky
He had worse numbers than Bryzgalov 2 seasons ago, trade him for a 2nd round pick and he wins the Vezina that season. Looking at small sample size and a young goaltender, but that's pretty damning. Good goalies come there and are terrible, terrible goalies leave and literally become the best?

And it's not new. It's been happening before Laviolette. In fact, before Holmgren. Maybe Snyder insists on high scoring hockey?

Don't forget Roman Cechmanek. He was my favorite goalie when he played for the Kings and statswise was one of the better goalies in the league. Then he stunk it up in Philly for a couple seasons and was never heard from again.

The Hurricanes won 2-1 in regulation. Dvorak scores the winning goal in the second period after Luke Schenn tied it for the Flyers. Mason did play well in goal, he faced 34 shots in the loss.
The Jets and Ducks are tied 2-2 after two periods, Cogliano scored with five seconds left in the period to tie it. Ladd has both goals for the Jets.

They did as Corey Perry scored with under six minutes left in regulation.
