Cody Hodgson signs 6 year deal $25.5 mil, $4.25 AAV
No dollars yet.
Chris Johnston@reporterchris1m
There will be no bridge deal for #sabres forward Cody Hodgson. He's signed a six-year extension.

A message from Cody Hodgson. https://vine.co/v/h1PUTDd1MeD

Not sure Zach Kassian will even be in the NHL in 6 years, so yeah, worst Gillis trade ever even as there are many candidates.

He's only 23 it's not like he's 30. Buys out a couple of UFA years... I'll be interested in seeing the $ figure, that's the key here. If it's Henrique level $$ then it's a solid - great deal for Buffelo.

hmm, was his situation very different from Kadri's, who ended up having to take the bridge deal?

Hodgson does have nearly 100 more NHL games under his belt than Kadri. If it's around 3.5 million, this could be a steal.

Hodgson has had two semi-productive years compared to Kadri's one. Hodgson also brings a little more to his game than only offensive intangibles, or at least more than Kadri. Plus of course there might be more perceived attitude issues with Kadri than Hodgson.
Although I guess the money will say a lot; maybe the Sabres were able to save money by signing him to a long-term deal today rather than two years from now.

I don't like term (but not a fan of long teem contracts), but maybe the $$s will make up for it.

Nope.
To Vancouver:
Keith Ballard
Victor Oreskovich
To Florida:
Michael Grabner
Steve Bernier
1st round pick
Keith Ballard is bought out this off season. Oreskovich is no longer considered an NHL level player. Michael Grabner becomes a Calder candidate.
The Canucks received negative value for a 1st rounder and a Calder candidate.

Nick Kypreos@RealKyper47s#Sabres
Hodgson's new 6 year #NHL deal is worth 25.5M. Cap hit of 4.5M.

Good deal for both. Hodgson has already showed he can be a full time 2nd line center. If he ends up being a 1a/1b even better
