Default RV maintenance

We have been looking into either a small trailer or a small motorhome. Last night we checked out a used 2004 motorhome. The thing was immaculate. The inspection passed with flying colors. The owner is a car guy. He kept it up and it looked brand new even though it had almost 100000km on it. He then proceeded to tell me what he does for upkeep and I was overwhelmed. It felt like this is going to be way more work and stress than I want. Is it really that way, or is this guy just over the top meticulous?

And are motorhomes more work than trailers? or visa versa?

thanks

Well motor homes have an engine in them, so 1000% more work IMO.

I opted for a trailer, because it's easier to replace the tow vehicle as needed, In a motor home I'd assume you'd need an engine overhaul at some point if you still wanted to keep the RV, and really with a motor home you'd likely end up towing a car anyway. The only benefit I can see is in theory you might be able to open the fridge and watch TV in a motor home while traveling, but now adays you have great entertainment in a vehicle anyway.

As Ace said, with a motor home you really need a second mode of transport.

Think of this...

You travel for 4 hours to get where you wanna go...

Park the RV, roll out the awning and carpet, get the chair set up...

You are just about to crack a beer when.....

Aww crap, we forgot bread, can you run into town and grab some ?

Reverse the process, pack up the RV and off to town only to have to do the same thing again when you get back.

A bit extreme I know, but something to think about.

based on events in a recent movie, you apparently can use it to shuttle 1,200 kilos of the chronic across the border......seems like this bad boy will make money versus costing money......
