I'm trying to track down a song. It was the goal song for an old local sports team. They moved just before mp3 file sharing and after casual but extensive efforts my friends and I have come up empty.

It occurs to me that if there is a database through somewhere like SOCAN I might be able to find out who has the copyright in hopes that I could get a copy from them.

Alas I can't figure out how to search for that. Does anyone know?

Hit by the Rock (might be Hit by a Rock)

It was the goal song for the Cape Breton Oilers (Edomton's AHL franchise from 1988-1996)

I googled "Hit by the Rock cape breton oilers" to try to find it for, although I assumed you already had, anyway I found it funny that the first result is a old thread of you offering $20 for anyone who has this song.

Another result was a newspaper article mentioned it has been 20 years since they won the cup, and a comment in May 2013 on the article was asking for a copy of the song.

Sorry, end random comment, I just thought that was funny.

MQS, I checked for you and was told that Aquila (the Oilers' production company) is unaware of this song. My friend in the Oilers' office knows someone who works there. Sadly, since the team has moved and changed ownership a few times, most of the information from the Cape Breton times is gone so they have no knowledge of this song. We tried, sorry. (I thought I'd post this here rather than just answering your PM.)

A real long shot but I sent an email to the Chicago Blackhawks general mail to see if they could pass it along to Norm Maciver. Norm played for the Cape Breton Oilers and is an assistant GM for the hawks now. I am hoping they will take pity on us and he can either tell us the song details or point us somewhere else to look. A real long shot but I feel like it was worth the 2 mins it took to write the email

they were looking to bring back the old goal song and mascot to celebrate the 20th anniversary of winning the Calder cup. They might have found it, I couldn't find another article about that particle game though.

We did. No luck. If they had it I would assume they would have changed the lyrics from Oilers to Eagles, man the songs the Eagles have put out are beyond bad.

But yes we tried that, we tried the NS Sport Hall of Fame, former play by play guy, former game DJ, former videographer. I tweeted at the AHL president who was the Oilers president before he took the league presidency, alas no response.

Thanks for the help guys. Someday we will find it, and it won't be as good as re remember haha
