Default Giguere rips Colorado Avalanche teammates

Someone's pissed off:

Quote:
Some guys are more worried about their Vegas trip at the end of the season than playing the games, than playing every minute of the games. Quite frankly, I don’t care about your Vegas trip right now.

It’s not constructive. We have to find a way to get out of this losing mentality, you know? It starts with me and the guy beside me and everyone has to do their part.

It’s embarrassing. I’m embarrassed to be here right now. It’s not even funny.
Much more here.

They should invite Evander Kane.

I don't blame him. They have some real talent on that team and shouldn't be anywhere near 30th. Should have never fired Quenneville.

I like it. His team has clearly lost focus on their jobs and he's pissed.

Good on him.

We beat them with no real impact player on the team (unless you consider Cammalleri an impact player). They have Landeskog / O'Reilly / Stastny / Parenteau / Johnson... tons of proven young and older talent.

We still beat them.

I also want the Avs to win... as it gives the Flames a better draft pick.

That team just lost to the Flames. Not even the "rebuilding" Flames we'll see next season. The "just playing out the string" Flames.

That tells you how bad the Avs are. Not that you'd know it from listening to their announcers.

And when Matt Hunwick is playing defence for you, you know you have an awful, awful team.
I'd be interested to know who it is as well

Just speculating here but I doubt Giguere even mentions it unless at least a few prominent players are involved.

Duchene is likely involved for sure. Maybe Landeskog.

EDIT: I really don't see O'Reilly having the stones to be vocal about a trip to Vegas.

I'd be pissed too. Giguere is turning 36 soon and near the end of his career. He's forced to watch a bunch of millionaires in their early 20s take night after night off. Giguere is even putting up some pretty solid numbers considers the absolute mess in front of him.

Giguere probably wants another run at the big show. The Avs are not only totally failing to accomplish that themselves, but ruining Giguere's stats and making it harder for him to keep his career going.

To be fair, Vegas is awesome. And I'm speaking as someone who is not a professional athlete that makes millions of dollars every year.

In all seriousness, if I was him, I would be pissed too. That team is full of talent and the fact they are sitting at the bottom of the league is unacceptable even to me, someone who couldn't possibly care about the Colorado Avalanche less than I already do.

I have no issues with what he said. If anything the Avs should be embarrassed for their fans. They go through a lockout for a bunch of self-entitled millionaires, only to have them mail it in every night? They put up with a lockout only to deal with that garbage?? If I was an Avs fan I'd be disgusted with that team, especially given the young building blocks they have.

As Giguere says, you can't win without paying attention to the defensive zone.

Quite clearly the Avs have assembled one of the worst defenses in the league.

Those who are worried we will pick Jones probably only need to worry about that eventuality if we win the lottery. Otherwise I don't see how the Avs can pass on him.

I wonder how pissed off Kipper must be in a similar situation.

I was the one quoted from the game thread.

I don't see Duchene being involved. He's busting his butt out there, most of the time, unlike the rest of his team. He's also been fairly vocal about others putting their own interest before the good of the team. And he's not a partyer from what I gather.

Also don't see it being Landeskog. He seems to be a good kid who cares about his team.

O'Brien is a goof and doesn't exactly have the greatest track record. If there is one of the 'stars' being incriminated here my bet is on ROR. Avs didn't treat him very well but he seems to be think very highly of himself. Duchene was vocal about ROR not caring for the team earlier this year.

Maybe Johnson, maybe Jones. Don't see Stastny being one of them but who knows. In my mind there's very little chance it's Duchene and/or Landeskog

Stuff like this should be said in the locker room, not behind everyone's back to the media. We don't even know if what he said is fair or even close to the truth - it is simply his perspective.

An important trip that people are planning or looking forward to does not mean they aren't trying.

If my work had that attitude I would be gone, seriously. I am on a big project right now and I am certainly going to be taking a holiday. Players don't have that luxury, but to claim their planning a holiday is ruining their gameplay is crazy.

If the penguins on a massive winning streak talk about a vegas trip it is called team building. A losing team and it is called giving up.

Dude should have talked to his mates in the locker room, not the media.

On the other hand, if a vegas trip post season takes away their desire to compete, I suggest the Flames start planning one now.
