How is there no review from Shanahan on that hit? Worst off, why has our management not made any noise on this whatsoever? None of our guys retaliated either. Seems like we are a bunch of pushovers.

They probably won't even look at it because Hartley was dumb and ran Stajan right back out on the ice.
Indeed, any player that takes a shot to the head and then proceeds to try and stand, fails and falls to the ice, should have been in the quiet room, not back on the ice.

Shanahan obviously has no time for Stajan or the Flames, as Stajan took a brutal targeting the head shoulder earlier this season (think it was an Avs dman) and it wasn't reviewed either.
I just don't get it.

I don't understand why instigating a fight in the last 5 minutes warrants a suspension. While a cheap like this is just a 2 minute minor. Isn't the cheap shot a more dangerous play? The league needs to get its priorities straight
What was also dissappointing about this is that Hrudey was kinda condoning this play by Bieksa. He says: 'If you're Bieksa, you gotta take the opportunity to run a guy like this.'
Only one problem Hrudey, it was dirty and they want to get blatant head-targetting hits out of the game (or so they say).
For as complimentary as Hrudey's been with the Flames, I was very disappointed in that comment he made about the hit.

I think that was the Flames-Wild game you're thinking of where he got a shoulder to the head by Minny forward Charlie Coyle.

Trust these bozos to manage our assets. Yeah right.
Also, nice to see the team stick up for their number 1 centre...
This team are the anti-flames; meek GM, meek coach, meek players... The number one overall pick will be a chocolate eclair.

This league is half-pregnant, it doesn't know what it ever wants.
Seriously if the Flames weren't in this league, why would any of us watch it?

This just reminded me of headshots gone unpunished....the worst in recent memory was Jeff Skinner on Glencross a couple years back jumping into one...and was able to find it on youtube.
Around the 43s mark, and you'll will have to pause it given the crappy camera, but pretty clear this was a head shot with both arms, and a jump into the hit by Skinner to boot.
Got a penalty, no further discipline, mainly because this was a young "exciting" player in Skinner.

Pretty disgusted that Stajan has been targeted several times this year. He's finally got his game back to a level where he is contributing and not a liability out there.. and this is three or arguably four times that he's been on the receiving end of an 'iffy' hit.
Seeing him stagger about was actually really, really scary. I hope he's okay but I do wish they had taken him out of the game for precautionary reasons. Can't take chances with blows to the head.

Whether we like it or not, the fact of the matter is quite simple. The league has proven to be quite lenient in regards to punishing these types of hits if no significant injury takes place. They've proven to be absolutely oblivious to them if no injury at all has taken place.
If they take Stajan back to the quiet room and he misses the remainder of the game Bieksa is probably looking at a 2 or 3 game suspension.

I could not have said it better myself. The NHL is a joke. Sadly, Flames will be the punch line for the next few years if the current trajectory is any indication.
