Playoff bound Blackhawks GM Fired
Hey dude,
This is always a tough decision – but we are going to bring in a new GM for the Hawks. As you know we’ve been at times concerned with some of the moves you’ve been making – and we are worried about having the franchise basically be unsustainable going forward due to lack of quality assets. Your recent moves such as the nixed Hellberg deal and the moves you been making for cap space, basically make us feel like you aren’t a great fit for this league.
I know you will disagree, I would expect nothing less, and I would only say that from a personal standpoint you’ve been great – easy to deal with, always getting along with everyone – but this is a competitive league and we have a lot of GMs that can take advantage of less experienced GMs.
Again – I realize you are going to likely be angry, and that is perfectly justified. These are the tough decisions we sometimes have to make unfortunately.
I wish you nothing but the best of luck
Grant

Sorry to see you go, you were a very active GM who brought a lot trade wise and post wise to the league.

I think what I sent him says it all and no need to go into it further.
We'll have a new Hawks GM installed on Monday.

Had no beef with him at all...was active and participated in everything. Liked our discussions.
Whether its the right way to go out or not is debatable when there really isn't any other way then just saying goodbye.
I can understand his pain.
Good luck

I would like to thank everyone who sent me well wishes and condolences both in this thread and by PM. I had a lot of fun being a CPHL GM, although I really wish it had lasted longer.
Anyways, I was really shocked and very upset to have received this news with only 8 games to go in my first season as the Hawks GM. A season where it definitely looks like the Hawks are going to make the playoffs in the very tough Western conference, with one of the lowest payrolls in the conference. Please note we would of had tons of cap space next season. What is even more shocking about the league's decision is that I brought a non playoff team from last season to the playoffs this season. Not too bad for a rookie GM. I find it very suspicious and cruel that I wasn't allowed to at least play out the rest of the regular season and playoffs.
Thanks again to all of the GMs who enjoyed interacting and trading with me. Although I definitely made some controversial moves, I had a lot of fun obtaining players that I like such as Giroux, Couture, Luongo and even Yakupov, Jagr and Ovie for a short while. And that's what it's all about isn't it? Having fun while playing the game?

Sec218 firing in the CPHL = Brian Burke firing in the NHL
The timing is strange but it doesn't change the fact that it happened.
