Default I just received a photo radar ticket in the mail

I got it in the playground zone on 26th Ave. S.W. near 20th St.

It's like the third time they caught me there. I'm a slow learner I guess.

It pisses me of to get this ticket because money is tight at the moment.

At this point a poster would normally ask the Board how to avoid or reduce the charge and fine. I'm going to do something different. I'm going to man up, admit my mistake and take my lumps.

Sucks man. Third time though, do you get some kind of loyalty bonus? Maybe ask them to dedicate a filled pothole in your name when you pay up.

I can understand getting nabbed at random intersections, you can easily go 65 in a 50 zone and get a ticket. But 3 times through a playground zone? That and a school zone, I never, ever speed through them.

next time you see the cameras at an intersection block out your number plate and drive back around fast with your buddies naked arse hanging out of the back window, cause no end of jocularity back at the police station.

Feel for ya on money being tight, but the first two times should have taught you not to speed there?

Invest in this. It's expensive, but for the countless tickets this thing has saved me, it has paid itself off 10 times over already.

who would ahve thought that an escort would pay for itself......

i thought with most tickets you could agree to do some community service in exchange for not paying......

It took me 2 speeding tickets to learn my lesson. There is always photo radar on the 26th ave. Such a pain.

OP, you need to learn what this sign means.

You've gotten caught 3 times by speeding through this sign? I'm going to make an educated guess and say that while you may have gotten caught 3 times, you speed though them all the time. How about when you see this sign, you slow down like the law dictates? I've never gotten a speeding though a playground ticket in my entire life, and I never will. Because I don't speed though them. It's not that hard...

I hate the playgound zones, they really need to re-evaluate where they are neccessary. If there is a fence with access points that are crosswalks there is no need to the playground zone.

If the playground is on a major thorough fair there should be a fence and lighted crosswalks and no playground zone.

Doing those too things would eliminate a lot of uneccessary playground zones and improve safety and traffic flow. It is ridiculous that elbow drive has playground zones a long it.

As for the OP I would still go to the window and plead not guilty. Sometimes they look at the picture and toss it out becuase it has something that doesn't meet the standard. I have had 2 of my 4 photo radar tickets tossed. I don't know why but when I plead not guilty they decided not to proceed.

by the way, is it just me, or does it seem like the only time people actually drive 30 through playground zones is between 8 and 8:30am?!

I've read enough BS "I didn't deserve the ticket - how do i avoid the fine" threads here. Rather than add another one, I thought I'd go another way with it.

playground zones are stupid. They are just a cash grab. I can't remember the last time I saw a child even using a playground.

You would think that given the fact that we are one of the very few places with them, that other cities/provinces/countries would be running out of children, but it appears they aren't...

What you should do, is take your ticket to the second floor of the Calgary Court Center, ask the JP to reduce the fine. After that, because you are menace to the public, turn your license in. 3 times in the same spot? You fail at driving.

Playground and school zones are areas I will never speed in- assuming the zones are in effect.

Seriously, is your day ruined because it took you 8 seconds longer to get somewhere?
