Default Don't laugh... but my dog went to the chiropractor today...

My wife took him.

Apparently the doc (she's actually a vet) made some minor adjustments. She said he was out in his left groin area and his right ankle, as well as his head, neck, and spine.

Apparently this vet is very popular with the show dog crowd (what do I know?) and my wife felt that a visit was necessary in order to get ready for the big show this weekend. ...

Just texted my wife. Cost was $116... but I think $50 of that was a one time preliminary examination fee... you know.. the same bs that all chiropractors charge for a first time visit.

I laugh when humans go to the chiropractor. What do you think I'm doing when I hear this about your dog?

I'm hoping your dog was walking funny before he went to a doggy chro and miracle of miracle was much better after.

If your dog was sick or had arthritis you might look at something like this.

But I doubt that dogs need adjustments.

What can I say?

My wife is showing the dog at a big show this weekend and she felt it was something he needed in order to move better in the ring.

Just part of the cost of showing I guess...

Show fee $110
Benching Area fee (with power) $62
Parking fee $36
Grooming fee $80
+ all the cost of equipment and gear that you accumulate in order to show the dog.

Dog shows creep me out.

Its like those southern US child pageants but for people without kids, or not that far overboard yet.

I'm sure if you grabbed a hold of your dogs nuts and gave em a solid twist your dog would completely re-align itself, at least thats why my chiropractor tells me.

Actually dogs shows are a very important event in the dog breeding world... (and I'm not talking about the other thread)

...just like horse shows are in the horse industry.

It allows you to show your dog at its best in front of potential breeders who may either want to use your dog in stud or if you have a female, may want to purchase a puppy in any future litters. Currently stud dogs get anywhere from $1000 to $2500 for a breeding and puppies are in the same range.

Also dog shows are not just conformation competitions. There are obedience competitions/trials as well as other events. My dog is currently working towards his obedience title as well as his agility title. When he obtains these, it will be through competition with other dogs at dog shows.

Sorry, but dog breeding also confuses me. When people brag to me about their little puppy having show parents and a $5000 price tag, I ignore them and play with the puppy, just as I would with a mutt.
