Default enmax power pole

Really need advice here as I am getting no help from telus or enmax

There is a power pole in the alley that services a few houses including mine. The way it is situated, a wire would have to go over the neighbors yard no matter what.

Telus won't hook up services because it would "aerial trespass" our neighbors yard. Our power line is currently hanging over their deck...

Enmax won't do anything and without them telus can't install....I would assume shaw would say the same...

This is an old neighborhood... crescent heights.

My options?

Here is a photo of the layout.
The long part where it says "neigh" is the neighbors driveway.
Such a weird design!!!

Pay someone to trench the cable?

Really it sounds like Telus is just being cheap/lazy, but that's fairly par for the course for them. In rural areas they can take up to 3 years to re-bury cables that they dug up for repair.

Where are the property lines on your drawing? Alley line and neighbour line specifically.

All 3 properties are separated by a 2 inch fence on each side of the neighbors driveway.
Alley is where the pole is.
A trench would involve permission from the neighbor and that likely won't happen..

Wouldn't shaw say the same thing? Don't they have to run it from that same pole?

This is an old house? How come it doesn't have services already, no phone, no tv?

Are we to assume this is a new build in crescent heights? If not, why aren't services already connected? If so, why didn't the developer have to satisfy the city that services would be available before subdividing the property. Something seems wrong here...

Likely yes. Knowing Shaw though, they likely won't have as many qualms with it. In fact, I'm surprised your home does not already have cable/telephone service.

Are you on a different roadway than your neighbour? That seems like a very non-standard layout for their driveway/pad, considering the pole exists in an alley but their driveway pad is behind your home.

I'm either slow or your drawing is confusing me. Which direction is the alley, if it can't go N/S or E/W as the pole is surrounded on 2 sides by Neighbour...does alley not touch your property at all?

Really old. Built in 1925.
We did have a detached garage in our backyard and if I recall correctly there was some sort of wire that went from the pole to the top of the garage and to the house. But this still went over neighbors yard.

Garage has since been demolished.

So how does your house abut the alley?

Sorry everyone. I really suck at explaining things.
See pic below. There actually is no alley. It is flanked by houses on all sides.

Wow. That's uh, not really up to modern standards is it. I think you might have to get some kind of legal agreement with your neighbour to fly the Telus cable over their yard, or contact Shaw and hope they have underground lines running in the front easements nearby.

We'd need to send someone out to check out your premise and analyze what exactly needs to be done and what would be the best solution. Once we know what can be done, any necessary arrangements (e.g. an Authorized Trespass) or billable work (i.e. By TELUS or a Private Contractor) can be finished prior to a service installation.

How do we make this happen? You should be able to call the sales department and request a 'Pre-Field' after explaining that you have an 'Aerial Trespass' and 'Isolated Property'. If this fails, let me know by posting here.

Well the tech that came did say the only option was to trench the cable...don't really have the funds for something like that...

You have TV to your house from some provider. They can provide you with internet as well, no?

If not, because you are on satellite, then I am sure at some time Shaw had a cable running to your house. I would call them and see.

This was a house I bought over 10 years ago and rented out.
4 months ago I took it back and did a full scale reno .....everything but tear down and rebuild.
I did get the contractors to tear down the garage which I believe was holding the shaw wires to my house

I currently have no TV or internet services at all.
