Ha ha, the Calgary Sun poll attached to this story is "are Halloween costumes getting too realistic"?
Ya, I don't think that is the issue here.

After having to deal with and wash our family cat who got into a fight with one when I was a teenager, I'd say yes , yes they do.

They thought she was a furry - which is totally probable cause.

Exactly how big are these skunks in Western Pennsylvania. Seems kind of odd you could mistake a child for something that is as big as a large cat.

I was always under the assumption that it was the bullets.

Fair enough. I guess I just assumed people didn't randomly shoot into the dark.

My first reaction when I see a skunk is always to shoot it.
Seriously?
My dogs got in a fight with a skunk in the pitch black of 10 p.m. about a month ago . . . . . the skunk won with a flick of its butt and doggy parents lost trying to de-skunkify two Golden's late at night.
I need to get a gun, children be damned.

Pets learn the hard way not to fight a skunk, usually it's a one time event, unfortunately humans aren't as smart about guns.

No, now you've got to go dressed as a little girl dressed as a skunk with a bullet wound on your shoulder. That would be the best topical halloween costume of the year!
