Looking at renting a car this weekend for a road trip to Grand Falls New Brunswick. Since I have to make another trip this summer to Moncton NB I thought I'd check into this deal as well... free weekend for going to two places I planned on going anyway. It would give me the flexability to head home at my leisure some weekend.
Anyone framiliar with this promotion? Have you taken advantage of it before? Pros/Cons?
I'm going to look into it a bit deeper when I take my lunchbreak, but thought I'd take two seconds to post here and see if anyone has had some first hand experiance.

I've never rented from Discount before, but from word of mouth I've never heard good things about them, personally I prefer National or Enterprise.

after calling and looking into it, it's too expensive atleast right now. $220 for the weekend plus gas. Enterprise was $152 + gas, however with it being just me it's a little on the pricey side. I'd be spending minimum $100 on gas, so $250, then food and booze, you're looking at minimum $350. Plus going to get the car, getting back, dropping it off, and the drive from Halifax to Grand Falls (which is close to the Quebec boarder) is a distance.
Thanks for the input though

Look at Avis - they had $99 weekends no kilometer limits.

Enterprise was $19.99/day for 3 days so it was less than $60.00
then add the $15 <25 fee (I'm 23)
add $16.99/day insurance
15% sales tax
whatever other little fees they had incorporated in there, it all adds up to $150 or so.
Also unlimited kms within the maritimes (which is good as I'd certainly be racking them up haha)

hmm, interesting, I rented with Enterprise tons of times and never got charged underage fee, in fact they are the only ones who dont charge this fee as far as I know, and as long as you stay in the province it's unlimited km thats why I always rent with them.

How do they know if you leave the Maratimes or not? I don't get it. I mean really, you could drive to Calgary and back and just tell them you drove around PEI 4,000 times couldn't you?

well I suppose you can do that, but you when you signed the rental agreement it's clearly laid out whether you're gonna be taking this out of province or not, so if you lied and get into an accident you'd be in a whole lot of shinguard. No insurance is gonna save your bacon, not to mention the potential legal liability...this is just what I think would happen, I am obviously not familiar with the technicalities shall it actually happens...

Ah that makes sense. I haven't rented a car in about 10 years, so I'm a bit out of the loop.
