Get extra Dropbox space for free!
http://forums.dropbox.com/topic.php?id=52900
Basically use the beta client to upload photos and movies and you'll get free space on dropbox.
I just tried it and it's working great, I just took an SD card, put a DCIM folder on it (just in case), copied a bunch of photos to it, eject, insert, dropbox asks if I want to import, say yes, and away it went.

I was just going to post this.
Love Dropbox. Use it every single day for a lot of different stuff, both personal and business related.

None that I have ever encountered. Transferred some pretty big things as well.

I've never had a limit either. I'd imagine the limit is what your actual space is from the Dropbox folder you're sending it from, to the Dropbox folder you're sending it too.

The other person doesn't even need a dropbox account. If you put something in your public folder you can send anybody the link.
I use a program called Hazel (Mac only - http://www.noodlesoft.com/) to monitor a folder (which lives in the public area of my dropbox) and delete the contents every 7 days. Anytime I need to send somebody something of moderate to low importance I drop it in that folder. It's nice being able to send files of essentially any size and not having to worry about it cluttering up the dropbox.

It's the camera import feature they're testing so you need to have Dropbox import them from a camera or some other similar device, I used an SD card with a DCIM folder on it (which I copied the files up to first).

Hmm I don't have any camera device with me other than an iPhone.
What is the best way to get up to their max 5 GB reward?
Can I upload and delete and redo, or do I have to have 5 GB of unique files?
Actually, it says every 500mb you load, you get extra 500mb. Does that mean they'll give you 1GB free for 500mb you load, so you only need to load 2.5 GB of data?

You get 500MB for the first upload (even if it's just one pic), and then you get 500MB for every 500MB you upload, so to get the most you have to upload 5GB or 4.5GB.
iPhone should work when you plug it in; it shows up in Explorer as a device with pics on it.
Not sure about the uniqueness though, while I know they store hashes for files to detect duplicates (I've had files I've downloaded from the Internet which I put in my dropbox upload instantly, which means they already had it and just recognized that rather than re-upload it) I don't know if they'd store them for deleted images.
So that might work.. upload 500MB of pictures, delete them out of drop box, unplug phone, replug, upload again, etc...

That's a wicked use of Hazel.

Got my 5GB yesterday, once I figured out where (and when) the dropbox photo transfer option popped up I was able to transfer 4GB of Video and 1 GB of photos from my external USB hard drive.

And where is this? Nothing I insert seems to work. Nevermind, I quickly figured out that I had disabled prompting for photos etc.
Uploading an hour long 1080p video of me siting at my desk right now.

Glad you found it, I found it by accident when I pulled my USD cored on my Hard drive then plugged it back in and saw the normal pop up scree asking what I wanted to do....open files, play music, play video.....you know that pop up. I normally just close it, at the last second I saw the dropbox icon......and bam there it was!

Why do you have an hour long video of you sitting at your desk?

Because I wanted a single file that I could upload. I just turned on one of our cameras and ran it for an hour.
