Default Momentis/Just Energy

I have a really good friend who has joined up for this Momentis business and he's trying to sell me energy from Just Energy... after some research and the way he told me about their seminars and marketing tactics, a dozen red flags went up for me...

I was wondering if the CP brain trust had any dealings with this company and if they are legit or a scam? Has anyone worked for them?

The fact that you have to pay $300 to sell their services... and a guy who shows up to the seminars saying he makes $60k a month leads me to think that this is a total sham and they are preying on the gullible...

I could be wrong though... I know they do a fixed rate for energy, but lock you into a contract... this could go either way really...

Just wondering if anyone had dealings or have worked for them and if it's legit or not?

Sounds like a typical Amway MLM Scheme.

Basically its what they all do... Just run... run far away.

I bet you lose a friend over this kind of crap.

My grandpa does it, so I signed up to 'support him'. he actually makes really good money at it. It was essentially free to sign up for me (I think the end cost was $20), because there was some triple rewards thing so it was paid for with the total generated commission money. He did it because he thought I would see how easy it is to make money at it, but I didn't like the fact that the bulk of you income comes from signing up new reps, instead of signing up new customers.

As far as Just Energy, the rates are not the worst but there are better options out there. I burned some bridges in this area so I really don't have any cheap options right now. I think I locked in at a rate that was cheaper than my Direct Energy as far as NG and a bit more expensive for electricity. My initial math said it would about even out but that was wrong and in the end I think I pay about $10 a month more for it than I did with Direct Energy.

Since it actually isn't cheaper than any other option, I refuse to try and get people to sign up. The entire sales pitch they suggest is "You might pay a little more for your energy but it will be supporting me and my business instead of just going into a big energy company's fat wallet"

The cancellation fee for the 1 year contract is $100 I think, so I have decided to just ride it out and keep giving him something to feel good about in his retirement.

Long story short: If you are looking for a MLM thing it isnt nearly as bad as lots of them that are out there, but in the end it is pretty much the same thing. If you do sign up, make sure it is during a triple commision period and make him kick back some (or all) of that money to you.

If im correct Just Energy used to be called Alberta Energy Savings LP...if you google that up youll see many postings on scams etc.
we were locked in with them for 5 years..my dad signed back in 2006 with them and the rates were ridiculous it was like .11 cents for electriciry and $11.00 for gas

Im sure today there at a different rate compared to few years back..

they do make a lot of money, buddy of mine got into it and made $100 per sign up
$50- gas and $50 electricity

None of these MLM schemes really make any of the peons any money, its only the higher-ups.

They call it a business and you basically have to treat it as such, while making 2-300 bucks a month... wow... great return on time investment... not.

As with any MLM, if you get in early you might do okay. If you are late to the party, you are at the bottom of the Pyramid scheme.
