Default PS3 issues with Uncharted 3

Hi guys and gals. My nephew bought a couple of PS3 games before Christmas. One of the games don't have any problem and works great. The other one 'Uncharted 3' are having some issues. PS3 doesn't seem to read it and the game is not loading. He showed me the disc and there was no scratch or anything. We went back to "Source" and got it replaced. We bought that protection plan or something. They happily replaced it with the new Uncharted 3 game but when we got home, the same problem. Does anyone else have this problem with this game. I emailed Sony tech support already and still waiting for the reply. There was a runour that we are not only one having this issue. I don't think "Source" will replace the game with a different game since the protection plan is for the Uncharted 3 game. So, we are SOL or we just have to wait for Sony to respond and let us know what to do. Poor kid spent $59.95 for a piece of garbage game.

If anyone have any idea how to fix this problem, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Is his PS3 set up to access a network? Does the PS3 have the latest software update? That is the only thing i can think of that may cause this.

Apparently it could be an issue following the recent PS3 update:

All, We're sorry to hear about these issues. I'm also ver... All,

We're sorry to hear about these issues. I'm also very sorry it's taken us this long to respond to you. We've been scurrying around trying to figure out what the cause could be and what we can do to resolve it. Because it's only occurring to a low number of users, it's been difficult to track down.

Unfortunately, it's nothing that we have any control over; it's occurring due to the latest PS firmware release. We're hoping that a new firmware is released soon that fixes these issues, but don't have an ETA.

In the meanwhile, clearing your Game Data can sometimes fix the issue. You can also try clearing your system cache by inserting a different game disc, running it once, then ejecting it and switching back to Uncharted 3.

Regards,

EvangM
Doesn't look like the issue is resolved, but try this:

Infinite spinning ring for me, too... assuming infinite equals 4 minutes .

I have a PS3 "Slim" 250, latest firmware, latest UC3 patch.

I deleted four pieces of content that were in the Game Data utility, one of them being about "downloadable content". I was succesful in going into the UC3 menu without downloading 1.02 patch. Then, exited to the XMB.

Went into UC3 again, this time patching it. Again, success. I went to the Extras section and tried to view a video. Nice. [By the way, there's a "bug" in the title of one of the videos, it says "@Long Hidden@" where, I guess, the translation to Spanish should go ].

As I'm very crazy, I exited to the XMB and loaded the game again... Success! Now I'm heading to multiplayer.

I hope I don't get this bug again... The only thing I haven't done, yet, id downloading extra content, I'm a Fortune Hunter's Club member, and the last thing I remember doing, was downloading "fat Lazarevic" from the PS Store (not in game). Maybe this caused something?

Best regards!

I've never heard of a game being the problem. The PS3 is the problem if it can't read the disc (even though it can read the others).

I know more about the 360 as I rarely play my PS3, but there are like daily updates for the PS3, it's brutal. Maybe it needs an update? That or the laser could possibly dying.

Edit: Or software problem with PS3 like mentioned above me.

That's why I said like, which equates to 2-3 days. Seriously, it's a joke how many updates there are for the PS3.

Here's the recent update history.

In 2011 there were 8 total system updates.
In 2010 there were 7.

If you are including the updates for games then that could vary depending on how many you play but those ones download in seconds and are pretty rare. Online games usually get the most but even with MW3, I've only seen one update.

Its ironic that PS3 users were happily making fun of the 360 and the RROD but it looks like over the past year or more that the PS3 is the one with all the problems.

Just curious, but do you have a link to these issues that are on par with RROD for XBox?

8 and 7? I call BS. There would be 2.0, then 2.01, then 2.02 all the way up.
