Would you be offended if I made this my sig?
No, there's no free internet. Tablet manufacturers, for some reason, haven't built the international infrastructure they'd require to offer free internet to all their customers.

If you want internet outside of an area with wifi you have to pay for data that needs to be purchased in some way or another.

Do you have a smart phone with a data plan? Most mobility carriers in Canada will allow you to tether a tablet to your phone's wireless data connection for no added charge.
Also, this sentence is all kinds of win:

There is no such thing as free wireless internet that is not WiFi.

Check Pirate Bay, they have tons of free illegal stuff on there. It is on the internet though, not wifi, so it looks like you are hooped.

Back to the OP's question, the closest thing might be a later model kindle (though not the new Kindle Fire). You can find models with free 3G+WiFi, and packaged with a browser. Not sure what the entire browsing experience is like, though. I believe the international Kindles will work in Canada, too.
Not really a tablet by today's standards, but free anywhere web browsing and email is nothing to sneeze at.

Yeah, looks like the new Kindle touch won't have this capability either:
Quote:
Amazon has clarified that the next generation of its 3G Kindle, the Kindle Touch 3G, will not be able to browse the Internet without a WiFi connection. Users will still be able to use 3G to sync book and document purchases, but anything beyond Wikipedia will be off-limits.
|
Quote:
The Kindle Keyboard 3G, while it is still available, will continue to have unfettered Internet access through the experimental browser.

While we're on the subject I am looking for a new car that comes with free gas. I'm not talking petrol I mean gas. Most cars need me to buy gas occasionally, which I don't really care for.
