Any Help. Where to buy LED's and Circuits?

Anyone know where you can purchase led's, timers, decade counters in Calgary or Lethbridge? I know the source carries some, but is there anywhere else that sells the parts needed to build led projects? I'm looking for a 4017b IC and can't find a place that has them.

Active Electronics is good, as is B&E Electronics.

Honestly, it may be easiest to just use Digi-Keys online system and have them delivered the next day. Will probably save you a bunch of running around.

Best bet is probably to try the university, if they have an EE department. They'll probably have these parts for their labs.

Otherwise you can order from Digi-Key and get them the next day.

Really? Where do they ship from? Have you had experience with them (Digi-key)?

Digi-Key is awesome. But shipping can be pricey for only a few components.
Go on their website and request a free catalog. The thing is thicker than a Calgary phonebook.

Yes, we buy a lot of parts from them for doing prototypes. They ship from the states, but we've never had any problems. Like the other poster said, you can request their catalog too which is good for inspiration sometimes. Mouser is another place that has a gigantic catalog. If Digi-Key doesn't carry it, Mouser probably will.

Now... if you don't want to pay, go to the manufacturers website and request samples. You'll likely be able to get 2 or so of each type of part. If you're not an engineer or employed, just make up something.

Digikey is the standard for nerds. If you want, lots of semiconductor companies will give you free samples (and pay for the shipping) if you want. Try Maxim, Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, Intersil... they'll give you free samples. I see you already have your part, but Webench is useful for prototyping (not sure what you want to do), Webench is the standard site used for most hardware companies and should be moved over to TI's plateform now.

thanks everyone for great suggestions. I'm sorta crunched for time and was hoping to pick up a piece locally here in lethbridge.... any suggestions of places that might carry parts?
