Raleigh, North Carolina - Stéphane Yelle's CPHL career officially came to an end Thursday.
The 37-year-old centreman officially announced his retirement from the Calgary Puck Hockey League after all 9 seasons from the inception of the league, including the five memorable seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes.
With today’s acquisition, He'll remain with the Hurricanes as an senior adviser to general manager Doug Whalen.
“It was a surprise when I got word that the Hurricanes acquired my rights from the Blue Jackets,” Yelle said. “I’ve spent the best days of my career here, and this is where I call home. To be given a chance to retire here like this means a lot to my family and me.”
Yelle played 341 career games with the Carolina Hurricanes from the 2003-04 till the 2007-08 season.
He scored 62 goals and added 92 assists and a plus 23, he also captained the Hurricanes for 3 season including the team’s only Stanley Cup series in 2007-08.
