Default Pull chest wall muscle - OUCH.

I think that's whats wrong with me anyway.

I was in a big crowd yesterday to go see the Queen of the England here in Melbourne. I had this chick with me and she asked me to lift her up so she could see above the crowd. After lifting her I had a large pain in my chest. It was painful but not too bad.

Today I woke up with my entire front of my chest in pain. It hurts whenever i'm in certain positions and is a stabbing pain whenever I take a deep breath. It started right after I lifted this chick up so I'm thinking this is a severely pulled chest muscle.

Anyone ever had this happen to them? Any tips on how to cope with it?

I had it along with its friend Costochondritis after an accident. I sympathize with your pain.

There isn't alot you can do in the way of relief. Advil or similar anti-inflammatory does help in keeping the pain bearable if you are having alot of trouble with moving. If you prefer to take the drug free route, heat is very effective. I've never found cold to bring any relief and usually causes it to be more painful.

Whatever you do though, don't keep touching/pushing on it or actions that causes it pull as this just aggravates it more and prolongs the healing time. Rest is your friend! And depending on the severity, you could be looking at a lengthy healing time since its hard to completely rest the chest wall muscles.

I did that about 10 years ago - I fully sympathize. Even now every time I do any heavy lifting I can feel it for a couple of days after. As far as advice, I think Drury18 covered it; just try to rest and not aggravate it as much as you can. Unfortunately it's not something that gets better quickly either.

Also with chest pain if you're not absolutely sure it's a pulled muscle it never hurts to see your doctor just to be safe.

So what, did you plow her or did you crawl home whimpering to soak in a hot tub full of perfumed water?

Talk about the juice not being worth the squeeze.

This happened to me a couple years ago. What you described sounds exactly what I went thru. I went to the Doctor and he gave me Cellebrex, an anti-inflammatory. Fixed me up within days and I haven't had problem since. Check with your doctor if that might be an option for you.

Perhaps "smoking hot" is a euphemism for overactive sweat glands attributed to obesity. That could also explain the intercostal muscle strain while lifting her.

Its really not about being hard up for options, its .. . . come on its like going to a Chinese buffet, you rarely get to the end of it where all of the bad food is because all of the good food is right in front of you.

Think about this post for a second. Take anti-inflammatory. If that is not for you, add heat.

This makes no sense. You use ice 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. This reduces inflammation. Heat might feel good but it draws blood to the area which is what inflammation is. You don't want that.

Besides, stealing your friends GF is never a good thing.
