Canada will be wearing new threads this Christmas.
Hockey Canada revealed a special edition third jersey for the 2012 IIHF world junior championship on Tuesday at their brand-new arena at Calgary's Canada Olympic Park.
The sweater boasts some good luck, too.
It was inspired by two gold medal-winning Canadian teams -- the 1982 junior team that won gold in Minnesota and the 1994 edition that captured gold in the Czech Republic. The jersey - which is mostly red with white stripes around the arms and the base - has been updated, however, with three maple leaves on the front to represent the under-17, under-18, and under-20 age groups. The traditional Hockey Canada and IIHF world junior emblems are also sewn in.

I'd like to see them revisit some of the old club team jersey's from the early world championships

Still having a hard time believing they actually wore these jerseys..

..and I was at the game! Canada defeated Switzerland 6-0! Good times.

The Smokies wore these as alternates a couple seasons ago, have one hanging in my closet.

The only inaccuracy to the Canada throwbacks is that they won't be made by Tackla.
