Ne Zha 2 made 2.2 billion in China... I watched a few minutes, and the movie is awful. The animation is poor, and the story is very basic (like Avatar). Yet even in Edmonton I saw packed theatres filled with generations of Chinese families. I couldn't believe 80 year old men were lining up to see a mediocre anime. That's a significant reason why Avatar 1/2 both grossed 2 billion, because of that same audience.

Thats disappointing to hear, as it looked pretty cool in the trailers me and my roommate were talking about watching it.

I’d watch the 1961 movie instead.
