A quick look at the pieces coming back in the MacKenzie Weegar trade
After a few hours of speculation about whether Weegar would waive his no-move clause and what and who the Flames would get back, the trade was made official. For Weegar, the Flames received Olli Määttä, three second-round picks in 2026, and prospect Jonathan Castagna.
Instant Reaction: Flames caught watching Stars in one-sided loss to Dallas
The Calgary Flames hosted the Dallas Stars on Tuesday evening at the Saddledome. The Stars were, by far, the better and more opportunistic team. The visitors took the game over in the second period and threw it into cruise control from there.
The Flames lost to the Stars by a 6-1 score.
FN’s mid-season Flames prospect updates: Cole Reschny
It’s not often that we see a Calgary Flames first-round pick overshadowed by a fifth-round pick playing in the same league, but that’s kind of what’s happened with Cole Reschny and Ethan Wyttenbach this season.
Flames prospect Abram Wiebe named NCHC defenceman of the month
North Dakota Fighting Hawks defenceman and Calgary Flames prospect Abram Wiebe has been named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference’s defenceman of the month.
Wiebe, 22, recorded 11 points (two goals, nine assists) in eight games with the Fighting Hawks to lead all NCHC skaters in scoring in February. The 6’3″ left-shot defender played huge minutes alongside a variety of different partners, including Keaton Verhoeff and EJ Emery, to help North Dakota get through the entire month without a single regulation loss.

I wonder if anyone else is held out of tonight's game based on how far developed a potential trade is (Kadri or Coleman). It is already going to be challenging, but we are about to see a level we haven't seen for quite some time. Buckle up everyone ... the rebuild is full on and tanking is guaranteed.

Are you pondering what I'm pondering, Locke?
