This was the deal as it went down:

Team: Calgary Flames

- Lowry, Adam (C) NHL
- Batherson, Drake (C) NHL
- Cowan, Easton (RW) ECHL
- 2025 1st Round Draft Choice (nj)
- 2026 1st Round Draft Choice (tor)
- 2026 1st Round Draft Choice (van)

Team: Colorado Avalanche

- Seguin, Tyler (RW) NHL
- Veleno, Joe (C) NHL
- Bedard, Connor (C) ECHL
- 2026 3rd Round Draft Choice (nyr)
The very next day I did this trade:

The Avs trade Gourde, #1 NYI 25 and #3 Col 26 to the Rangers for Roslovic and #1 Col 26

19th OV pick for probably a top 3 pick. But the Rangers weren't getting a top 3 pick if they kept the pick. Win/Win deal.

Then I ripped my team apart and added a lot of picks. Waiver guys are just bodies for 1 season.

Just my opinion on the deal...all depends on the plan for me.

I traded a 1st to Ravi for MacKinnon that turned out to win the lottery and become Celebrini.

It was a bit of luck as I think it was slated to pick 9th and he moved up to #1.

But still, those unprotected 1sts have very high value IMO

If Cheese doesn't go that direction, then it's ok. I said that the trade for me depends on what the next move is though. Point out for picks/prospects drive his team down the standings anyways.
Yeah and I guess that's what I'm saying.
If Cheese already had his own pick, there is incentive for him to strip it down and maximize that pick.
But he doesn't.

So the more he strips down, the more value the pick has to Goffie and the tougher it is to get back.

Or he can lower the value of that pick, by trying to have a competitive team, but then there's less value in going to get that pick.

If I were Cheese I just wouldn't worry about that pick. Focus on asset accumulation.
