This is what I don’t get. You have the NBA fumbling the ball massively, with issues accessing games and worsening on-court product. This is the time for the NHL to step up and make their product the most accessible in North American sports. Make it the sport for the Everyman. Instead, they’re going down the same path and alienating their fans.

Genius stuff.

Because they are STILL driven by Gary and the 1990s Cable Model Dream Team.

Why, as a BC resident I can’t natively, with an already expensive TV sub, get ALL games, in-market or not…is typically from cable-attached thinking. Yes, I can pay extra. But I don’t want the 500 channels with nothing on that is the “base” of their system.

So…sailing is the answer.

The NHL, run by very old thinkers, will NEVER be the pack leader.

I posted this before, but will say again, I was paying for NHLCI for a few years, trying to do the right thing and pay for a legit service. For me it all went out the window when I went on a trip to the UK and was in my hotel room awake with jetlag and I decided I would put on the Jets/Preds playoff series to pass the time. Logged into my CI account, only to learn that due to some agreement the NHL had with some UK sports channel, even though I was across the ocean with a paid subscription, I was still blacked out. Cancelled my subscription the moment the playoffs were over and never returned.

CI, Sportnets, Rogers, whomever; don't care the reason or whatever legal mumbo jumbo get's dumped on me. I pay for a service and I want to watch ALL games when I want. Not sit in a hotel room across the ocean and still be restricted.

I hope so much this blows up in Rogers' face and the team that decided this price increase was a good idea gets laid off with minimal severance. Horrible decision.

Ya this is too much. I have time to watch maybe 20 games a season.

Cancelled.

CBC Gem streams the regular season HNIC games for free. I use a digital antenna for the playoffs.

Both work considerably better than the Sportsnet app.

Today I cancelled my subscription and sent them a note. They don't seem upset about it.

Even their AI bots suck. I have my doubts that a human actually read any of that.

I'll never give Rogers another dime unless I absolutely have to. It's a damned bloody shame that the only two real ISPs around here are Rogers/Shaw and Telus. They're both horrible. I'd sooner give Elon my money for internet service.

Haha. I meant it. I absolutely loathe the Telco monopoly Canada has allowed. If someone like Freedom can make a dent I'm all in. But as of now, it's the worst part of being Canadian. Being held hostage by the bloated greedy telcos.

That's just Quebecor.

So pick your poison. Rogers. Telus. Bell. Quebecor. Or if you're unfortunate enough to live there, Sasktel.

I get my home internet and TV through Freedom. I actually find the prices quite impressive. The internet speeds are fast and the TV service is relatively cheap. I don't pay for a box, it just comes through an app on my Roku. I also get a discount on my cell phone plan.

It be different if they'd allow AI to commentate instead of the usual crew of ENG biased kool-aid drinking methheads we have to endure

Are they going to buy new tech? I heard the equipment they use is archaic and almost museum quality it's that old.

Maybe they could buy new cameras , fire Maclean and company into the sun and hire someone to program AI with Peter Mahrers voice for our game's....,,,Heck I'd love Ed Whalens voice or Gilbert Gotfried doing sound over the brain cell killing broadcasts we've been listening to .

Can you imagine ? What a fun drinking game .

Have Esposito in the background dropping F bombs too.

Cancelled mine as well. Hopefully they can get the statistics coming in and we send a message that this is unacceptable. If they showed that they are working on improving the service I might be okay with the increase but the product is so buggy

With baby/toddler I have to watch games on my phone with many breaks but without being able to have the stream keep my spot is infuriating. A simple thing but so useful for us that watch the game after it starts and guess what Amazon has it I hope we have tons of Monday games this year.
