The worst that happens is he doesn't accept it. Vegas is in no position to retaliate and if they accept, they'll be over the cap even with Pietrangelo on LTIR.
The way Vegas has operated, I would offer the max on an offer sheet with no compensation required. Suck it Vegas. But question begs, why do we bring in another winger? But I’m all for doing this out of spite.

Just curiosity for a former 7th overall pick.

1 x $1,544,424. Seems like a reasonable risk for a guy who was a PPG in the AHL one year, and a contract a healthy scratch last year might consider.

I don't think the Flames would do an offer sheet. Probably trade for an RFA and then negotiate a contract that works for the team, instead of a contract that is difficult to match

I think just from an asset management perspective, it's low risk potentially high reward. Dammit, one day eventually the Flames will land one of these young high pedigree projects that work out in our favour. St. Louis did it with Holloway who was in a similar position in Edmonton and Florida did it to us with Bennett. If it works, great... you have another asset in your system and more flexibility to make trades. If it doesn't work, then you scratch him and say bye next July.

Holtz is interesting because this was only his 2nd full season in the NHL. The year before last, he had 16 goals in his rookie year and the year before that, he put up great numbers in the AHL. The trade to Vegas seemed to take away his steam.

He is 26.

His high point total is 46, his 82 game average is 39 points and he is coming off a 37 point season. His point totals have dropped each of the last two years.

Now I agree that we should keep him at that salary of course, as he should still have upside.
Think Conroy wants a bit more audition time with Frost. I do wonder what his thoughts on Farabee are. He really took a downturn last year. 6 points in 31 games on the Flames is not stellar.
