There's also nothing wrong with Zary getting the Backlund/Coleman treatment on the wing for a while longer either. It's a long season. I fully expect Coronato to slide next to those two if/when they are ready to give Zary another look at C.
What's wrong with Kirkland's play?

If he fits, it’s as a 4th line centre. Do you really see a scenario that Kirkland stays centering the $14 million dollar wingers? He’s likely just placeholdong for Sharky, who himself hasn’t really proven to be anymore effective than Pospisil at centre.

Pospisil could be a high end 3rd line centre or a Bennett type based on his skill set. Pospisil played centre effectively internationally against some NHL competition too. The issue on that line isn’t really him, its the two guys making way more money than him.

I just don’t see the point of it that’s all. I’m happy with Kirkland as the 4th line centre, just don’t see the need to replace Pospisil on that Huberdeau line right now; Huberdeau and Mantha are the type of guys who disappear for a few games and then come back with a big point night. They are probably due; I just think it’s an over reaction to a couple of quiet games from that trio which should have been expected given the history of the two wingers.

Well the 4th line C spot is what I was referring to as a long term fit for Kirkland.

Having him on wing tonight does not mean the experiment is over.

Edit - what he said:

Wow, big chance for Kirkland there to play two really skilled players.

I don’t mind those lines at all.

He hasn't been good there, best to ease him in and against Carolina that's not a good idea.

I think the coaching staff is setting the team up for actual success here.

Psspssil is really good, but way better on the wing with Kadri.

If we're being honest the Flames offence has been kind of sputtering lately too.

It always made me laugh when Sutter would answer questions from the media, unless he was being unnecessarily rude and mean to someone, but it's so refreshing to have a coach who communicates so well in Huska and as far as I've seen, never gives anyone any attitude whatsoever, even if he may not be a fan of that person.

Doesn't help that Huber and Mantha have more or less reverted to form. So much for that early hope.

But as a whole you can't knock the resilience and their ability to stick with it despite the scoring ability rearing it's head a little more of late.

Bad news, Carolina: Vladar's in, so you're getting fewer than 30 SOG.
