Even though he was cut off by a left turning vehicle, tough not to speculate that he was loaded at the time, he's been on a downward spiral for a while. His behavior was unpredictable before he got fired, must have been very difficult to work with, bashing his former band members again only a couple weeks ago.
yeah ... when I read "Brent Hinds dead", my mind immediately went to "substance related", as he seemed to in a downward spiral for some time.
Either way, this one hits hard. Such an integral part of a hugely influential band ... lots of great albums, but "Emperor of Sand" in particular will always have a special place in my heart. Being a concept album about dealing with cancer, this one provided a lot of comfort for me when my mum dealt with and ultimately died from cancer.
RIP. Another brutal day for metal.

I was lucky enough to see him live as he was a really talented guitarist. I wasn't actually surprised by the headline as he seemed pretty unstable of late and all bitter about his falling out with the band and immediately assumed something alcohol, drugs related. Very unfortunate to go in a motorcycle accident. RIP.
