Best time to sell was yesterday, second best time is now. With any luck, the buyer's realtor will be unfamiliar with downtown / Beltline and won't know to mention the massive view-blocking hotel.
Reminds me when Arriva's west-facing views got completely screwed by The Guardian towers being built. At least with the new entertainment district being built there, those properties stand to gain some value again.

People that live in towers overlooking an empty lot directly beside an LRT station in the Beltline.

According to Gondek, the city is short 4500 hotel rooms. This development adds 700. So let's get 7 of them?

Love the height but I don't care for the look of them, maybe it's just me. Obviously tough to beat Bow, Telus Sky and Eighth Ave Place but these will definitely be my least favourite of the talls downtown.

Truman COO Tony Trutina was just on the Eyeopener talking about the project. He said that both towers will be taller than all existing in Calgary. DP's will be submitted next week to the city.

Is it normal for a homebuilder to take on a project like this? Take a note I know next to nothing and this probably a dumb question and they would bring in people who could tackle this. Who would finance these.
I wouldn't want to ascend a tower built by Homes by Shabby.

Truman is building a lot right now, and some of those are already condo towers (27 and 37 storey).

Yeah I bought in the SW corner of Guardian north thinking no way will they ever build the second tower. Sure enough, no sooner than I took possession, the second tower started going up. Just one of the risks you take!

I was an Arriva buyer way back (2007), and at the time Torode had planned for two more 42 storey towers where the Guardian towers ultimately went. Still went with the 2 bedroom west and south view unit though. Great views of the Stampede fireworks, and quite a bit of the downtown view like the Bow is still there.

Honestly, I'd love to see low-to-mid-rise hotels in Inglewood and Bridgeland. Both locations would be terrific for tourists to stay in, and would be excellent for local businesses. These neighborhoods are now destinations within themselves. Add 100+ units to the overall hotel room stock too. Hell, add another boutique hotel in Kensington too.

I owned in the NW corner of the original Arriva and then your tower went up 2 years later to block most of my view. You get a couple good years and then all you see is ass. It's like an always growing human centipede.
