I wonder if Teo+Varsho is much better than Davis Schneider+Varsho?
I agree KK was a mistake at $10MM. But Teo got 23.5 from the Dodgers so probably more to be a Jay. His OPS is 850 compared to Schneider's 750. Baseball Savant has Teo in the 11th percentile for outfields and Schenider in the 23rd, so better (but still not awesome).
Plus Teo is going to get way better pitches, hit more often with infield in, etc because he's hitting behind the start of the Dodgers lineup, while Schneider is hitting behind KK and bottom of the Blue Jays lineup. It's honestly hard imagine more different situations.
In hindsight it sure looks like they should have spent the KK money on a high leverage bullpen arm. I know Swanson's issues are probably personal life related (and not predictable/anyone's fault) but they didn't really replace Hicks from last year and having a fireballer come in and act like a closer in the 7th helps a lot.
