I understand what your getting at but limping in wouldn't have really changed how the season or message went, the expectation was they werent supposed to limp in at the beginning of the season, it was supposed to be them challenging for the top wild card spot at very least.

So, playoffs and playoff excitement and hope is better than nothing..and again outside of some magical run, if this team squeaked in, maybe won a wild card series and then lost, it wouldn't have changed what would/will happen this offseason, becuase even that conclusion with a single series win, would've been below expectations.

Playing the young guys; good for experience and some played well in spurts...but with some of them have you lost the "magic beans" potential element of them being coveted assets for other teams, because now they've played 30-50+ games in the big leagues and everyone has seen them? If they stuck in AAA and had great seasons, would they be more valuable as trade bait then coming up for parts of the season and playing decent, but not spectacular, in garbage time?

Regardless, if Atkins stays or goes, the Jays are going to continue to be a top spending team this offseason, and over correct for the quiet offseason last year.

Atkins if he stays, to make up for not spending last offseason and his last chance for sure, to build a playoff winner at all costs, at the expense of the aforementioned young guys.

If a new GM comes in, he will be a guy wanting to make his mark and create a big splash for and on the team and for the fans and spend that sweet Rogers money. That GM will also have the benefit of the doubt to change the system from what Atkins did, at least for a year or two.

I've said it before, Soto is looking for a big pay day, he's made that clear (and Judge has backed him) and he goes to the highest bidder.

He's a game changer as well and friendly with Vlad (always a concern after the Domincans were broken up 2 years ago) and would be the massive FA and bat that the Jays need.

Of course Jays have to be able also to fill some other gaps in FA and create some competition at some positions, not just hope guys will have bounce back or "better" years as was the failing hope going into this last season.

Yeah, the Soto deal is going to be astronomical. But I could see Cohen and his 40 Billion overpay the hell out of him to stick it to the Yankees.

It wouldn't shock me if he got something close to Ohtani. Cohen missed out on the prize last year, he won't want to miss out again.

Houston hasn't lost a game that Kikuchi has started. They are 9-0 and he's gotten 5 Ws to even his record.

Not sure the Jays have heard the message, Jays GM still states they expect to be a playoff team next season.

Deadline while it was really nice to see, basically moved the UFAs, not a reset by any means.

Jays really need to rebuild, trade the big contracts...

Don't sign Bichette,

If you don't sign Bichette you can at least guarantee you'll get a highly motivated Bo next year. If he repeats his performance from this season it costs him at least a hundred million dollars...

I have to say. It's been encouraging seeing the late season play from Kirk and Gausman. If there's any hope in a retool you'll need those guys back to 21/22 levels.
