The Mavs play their make-up game tonight against the Tulsa Oilers. They lose their tie for 5th in the Central division as the Indy Fuel picks up 2 points. A win tonight is imperative.

Mason McDonald gets the start in net. Matt Robertson gets on the board first for the Mavs with a feed from VanWormer just over 5 minutes into the game. Just under 12 minutes into the game Matt Robertson gets his 2nd goal off a sharp angle shot that flips over the shoulder of the goalie. Just seconds later the Mavs find the back of the net again but it is waved off for goalie interference against Danny Smith. They kill the power play only allowing 1 shot against. They get their first power play of the night and 32 seconds into it they get another one giving them a 5-on-3 situation that they take full advantage of. Jared VanWormer puts the Mavs up 3-0. This is his 14th ppg of the season and puts him leading the league in power play goals.

Tulsa makes the decision to switch up goalies to start the 2nd period. The Mavs get an early power play and do not generate much offense on it. Shawn Pauly rings a shot off the crossbar that lands in the paint but not quite over the line. That close to a 4-0 game for the Mavs. Mark Cooper follows up with goal #4 from Jared VanWormer. Coincidental minors get dealt after Tulsa gets heated in their deficit. Both penalties expire with minimal damage done by each team. Mark Cooper makes his way around a couple defenseman on a 2 on 1 rush and sneaks one past the Oiler goalie for the 5th lamplighter of the night. Tulsa finally gets one of their own at 12.5 minutes into the 2nd. Mavs carry on with a 5-1 lead. A seemingly easy rush beats McDonald with the Oiler player flips the puck over his glove side. Mavs still lead 5-2 in the last minute of the 2nd. Shots finish at 21-14 through 40 minutes.

Mark Cooper takes a tripping penalty 3 minutes into the 3rd. Tulsa gets their third unanswered goal just under halfway through the 3rd as a shot beat Mason McDonald top shelf on his glove side. 3 goals for the Oilers in 17 shots. Matt Robertson gets a hat trick 10:32 into the 3rd period and the Mavericks get back in control with a 6-3 lead. Tulsa pulls their goal for a 6-on-4 during a Mavericks penalty and do not change the score. Mavs win 6-3 outshooting the Oilers 24-23.
